New Book in SBR Store by poster Mr Ed - 20/20 Sports Betting: Think Like a Pro

20/20 Sports Betting: Think Like a Pro

Of the millions of recreational sports gamblers, only a few achieve long-term positive results. Logan Fields is one such bettor and in 20/20 Sports Betting, he shares his expertise.

Fields placed his first sports bet online in 1999 and soon recognized that sports betting was his life’s calling. Only four months later, he left his day job and has been wagering on sports ever since.

Logan takes readers through those early years and chronicles how he managed to steadily build his bankroll and quickly transition to become a full-time pro. Baseball, football, golf, NASCAR, hockey, horse racing—name the sport and Fields tells you how to beat it.

The author also provides guidance on where sports bettors should play, making money in today’s markets, what the future of sports betting has in store, and how anticipated rule changes will affect sports betting markets nationwide.

Most importantly, 20/20 Sports Betting details how you need to think and operate to be a winning player in this beatable gambling arena.

    850 Betpoints for USA members.

Any questions/comments to the author, SBR poster Mr Ed.

I think if you make a note that you want the Kindle version Sam will be able to do that.

You'll probably still have to pay the 850 point paperback price though (although Sam would have to confirm that).

I'd like to order it myself, but can't. Reviews on Amazon make it sound useful as well as a good read.

Mr Ed we have a poster here that post picks and he is down 100 units after 6 weeks betting football. We just fade his picks and make money. He usually loses 3 out of 4 of his bets. Is it a good strategy to fade bad sport bettors or is it better to make your own bets?

you should look into getting this changed. Dont understand the legality to it but for us old timers we have already used all the sportsbook (X5) cash up and being a pro is pretty useless.

Yes, been here since 2007 but haven't been super-active. Averaging about one post a month so makes sense that you never heard of me. Writing the book was certainly nor for financial gain, as it involved an enormous amount of hours I invested without even a guarantee I would ever get a publisher. And even though I was fortunate to get one (after about a year of trying), the target market is so narrow (sports gambling) that I would be elated to make even minimum wage when all the dust settles. It was more of a labor of love, and if I make money from this that would be great, but from a cold business standpoint, it will most likely turn out to be a very poor investment of my time if making money is my prime motivation in life.

And with regard to not making it in betting sports, I'm still very active and sports betting continues to be my sole income as it has for the last 20+ years.

"In golf, I explain how I often find value by closely monitoring injury reports."

Regarding golf injuries, there are many sites now available that post injury status reports that are updated daily. Most are fantasy sites as golf betting has really exploded in recent years. I've noticed that lines often do not reflect a golfers injury status when he is ailing, and I have taken advantage of these lines over the years. Unlike in NFL football when a player is just 1 in 53, a golfer is the "whole team". And when a golfer WD's it is action, unlike in tennis where the entire match needs to be played.

you seem nice but a nice used car salesman selling lemons is still a scam artist

there is no way you are making money doing that in golf

as i said you must be somewhat smart because justin7 gave you credit

but justin7 was also a scam artist in many ways

    Mr. Ed,

Can you tell me where you played the horses?

Was it live , simulcast or both?

I have known a few pro horse players from my time.

Interested in how you learned to beat the game and who helped you along the way.

    Thanks

The only way he's beat the game, like anyone else, the few, who have, Is betting +EV. Also, doing it through adjusting when books adjust. Takes a lot of research and staying on top. Also, with the change in Sabermetrics and AI, I'm sure it has made it more difficult.

All the best Mr. Ed. Keep eating those oats. Talking horses rock.

The horses chapter is short and if you are looking for a detailed account of how I beat the horses you will be disappointed. I even stated that I don't know anyone, aside from the guy who beat the Hong Kong market years ago (I think his name was Benton), who can do this in this day and age.

That said, there are occasional opportunities that arise, but not on a day to day basis. I have a TVG account but very rarely play. Some sports books offer head to head match-ups on races, and while I don't invest the time to beat them, I think someone who follows the sports closely could win long-term, as the juice is the same as the NFL and I can't imagine the lines are as sharp. I also think there are opportunities on those one winner rollover jackpots (Gulfstream) where you can create winning combinations that will payoff more than the odds. For example, I can create a Pick 6 that might be 500-1 to win and I could expect a 1000-1 payoff should I hit it based on the size of the jackpot.

But again, I think you would be better served looking elsewhere if your only interest is horses as I am not able to beat this market on a day to day basis, but I do take pot shots when the occasional opportunity arises, and I describe a couple of them in the book.

I learned a lot from Justin7...going way back to when he wrote the Pinnacle Pulse columns and also the videos he did here at SBR. Justin7 is very sharp, and if you haven't read his book I highly recommend it. That was one of the motivations for writing my book, as I learned a lot from others over the course of my career so figured it was time to give something back and perhaps others might learn a thing or two from me. Regarding making money on golfer injuries, there are tremendous opportunities that come up if you are closely following the sport, and I was very specific in the book on how I have capitalized on them.

Maybe it works out. If Mr Ed is hot and sexy, it'll be fine. Sort of like a 3 chord sad song singing musician. Its probably repetitive, but a new hottie can still sell it. Good luck.

There are 3 basic ways to win at gambling:

Computer model which is too difficult for the average person.

Handicapping which is the easiest method but hardest to pull off.

Angle-shooting approach which is what this book is mostly about and most gambling books. This requires that you run through the entire sportsbook looking for openings. That falls somewhere between the first two and is typically only of interest to the math types and why these books find little interest and especially little interest on gambling forums although it is the easiest way to win. You will not earn any style points.
