Still illegal to manufacture and sell. Illegal to have more than a small amount. More emphasis on rehab than punishment.

They can be the guinea pigs. It’s worked for some places in Europe.

That will not end good with legalizing hard drugs like that. You will just get more junkies out of work and homeless addicted living on the streets.. Crime will probably rise as well.

Good. Man should not interfere with my right to ingest what I please in body. Adequate laws already exist that punish crimes against life, liberty and property.

Addicts are just that, addicts. Its a waste of tax dollars on criminalizing people with personal problems that affect nobody but themselves. Go after the suppliers and the dealers who enable and take advantage of these broken people. Good for Oregon.

"Affect nobody but themselves" is a bit much...

Low lives leech off the system, lie/cheat/steal from from friends/family/others. Or worse.

Of course it's not EVERYONE, but it never is. But it's hardly a nobody-but-themselves thing.

The reasoning and the aim to decrminalize those with a problem isn't bad, but I have a feeling this is going to empower the partiersand those less apt to develop problems later.

I like the movement to shift to handling these things differently, but I'm sure there will be growing pains as the shift occurs.

I understand that and probably should of worded it differently. I definitely agree it affects their families the most and I would think that the family themselves would rather see them in treatment centers than jails.

As for the other crimes that might stem from addiction like robbery, assualt, etc. Those things will still be criminalized as they should be.

And hopefully they set a better example, were better role models than the government, athletes, actors, etc. You want smaller government, this is a good starting point.

I base my insightful Analysis on hard stats with the State of Colorado as the most legalized weed State in America today.. Stats show the State is seeing more crime and problems now since the legalization of just weed..

Try throwing Crack, Heroin, Opioids, etc into that mix also and good luck with that!!!

What happens if a junkie keeps piling up $100 fines and never pays them.

If I’m a junkie and I suck a few cocks to earn $100 I can guarantee you I’m getting my
next fix instead of paying a fine.

    Junkies gonna junkie.

This is nothing new and there are studies that prove legalizing all drugs is actually the way to go.

    Look at Portugal...

People have been brainwashed by Nancy Reagan "Just Say No" bullshit while she was popping pills (yes her daughter admits this).

Junkies will do drugs no matter what, it's about time they find a better solution than to put them in jails. They're just gonna come out and relapse.

I just think you'll get more young people hooked and living in tents and homeless on the streets if you do that. You just open up the flood gates. Hard drugs are the killer of all motivation and addictive...

I use to think legalization is the way to go but not anymore.. Not when I see homeless tent cities popping up everywhere in cities and people getting high and throwing used needles everywhere where kids use to play...

Well there are deeper issues. I'm not for meth, cocaine, crack, or heroin but you have to remember, most of these people became junkies from taking pain meds like Oxycontin. When they start building tolerance and can't get the prescriptions or can't afford it. They find heroin off the streets. No one wakes up one day and says, "I'm gonna stick a needle in my arms and inject this black shit to feel normal." Big Pharma is to blame for the opioid epidemic.

Having said that, drugs like weed, shrooms, LSD, MDMA should all be legal, especially when it's used medicinally.

War on Drugs is bullshit. Americans love drugs too much.
