He tells himself it's for entertainment but is really mixing the emotions and feelings of being entertained with being compulsive.

Using an incorrect conclusion to rationalize a behavior that sits in cognitive dissidence and claiming entertainment (because that's what they've heard others do) to justify the rationalization.
