Brett Favre Compares Kaepernick To Pat Tillman

The former Packers great told TMZ Sports that Kaepernick will receive “hero status” for his willingness to sacrifice his football career to protest racial and social injustice. Favre compared him to Pat Tillman — the former Cardinals safety who left football to join the Army Rangers after 9/11.

“It’s not easy for a guy his age — black or white, Hispanic, whatever — to stop something that you’ve always dreamed of doing, and put it on hold, maybe forever, for something that you believe in,” Favre said.

“I can only think of right off the top of my head, Pat Tillman is another guy that did something similar,” Favre said. “And, we regard him as a hero. So, I’d assume that hero status will be stamped with Kaepernick as well.”

Favre maintains that Kaepernick can probably still play in the league.

“I thought he was a dynamic player when he was playing in his prime,” Favre said. “He’s still young and hasn’t been hit in several years, so there’s no reason to think that he’s lost that much of a step.”

I'm going to go on record saying that Kaepernick might have been financially compensated just a SMIDGE more than Tillman was post career.

No, you're spot on. Since '14 absolutely on the decline and worst starting record in NFL.

Put it this way, SF dumped him and they were back in the SB 2 years later.

Yes, but Jimmy G is 29 years old, and 21-5 as a starter since then....Kaep was what, 3-16, with the same team. This is why nobody wants him, he's unconventional, unreachable and unreliable as a backup. Requires improv and broken plays for yardage....not what u want for a back up.

Come on man. You are blaming him for the entire team being shit? They have the best roster in the NFL right now top to bottom. Jimmy g isn't the reason they got to the bowl. He did nothing.

I like Brett Favre and his passion of the game he loved to play.

Brett is no longer relevant and making silly statements regarding Kaepernick will tarnish his image.

Just be quiet Brett. You sound foolish.

Imo his legacy is cemented but getting involved in a discussion about Kaepernick in comparison to Tillman who die while serving his country is poor a decision.

Kaepernick has learned well from the alter of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. He got his first "shakedown" from the NFL. Many more to come in the wonderful economic world of race baiting.
