I recommend a Mossberg 12 gauge, with some slugs as ammo. First one or two blasts
can be standard buckshot, after that it's slug time. they'll go right through a man.

Make sure your wife has one too; teach her how to load & fire it.

Long rifle with .223 bullets disagree.. Can't wield it effectively with home break ins. You fire it and that round goes thru every thing, walls, bedrooms, bodies, etc.. Could take out your own family if not careful..

Use a hand gun!!!! 9mm or .357 snub nose revolver for home protection..

Wanna guard the perimeter then sure the long rifles work..
