As Booya requested: A short synopsis so you can get back to protesting.
2 million cases and 112,000 deaths in about 3 months!
US has 28% of the world deaths. A caveat "reported deaths". Some countries death total/cases are unrealistic.
Of the more than 140 countries for which data is available, the U.S. figure for deaths per 100,000 people as of May 11 was 11th highest.
The US has ramped up testing to 63k/million and is accelerating rapidly. Late, but now the increase is out pacing most of the world.
This reflects the high number of cases.
After the limited reopening there hasn't been a real spike and that is great. I fear in a few weeks the protests may result in a significant rise.
An inauspicious milestone but things were expected to be worse, so "good news"?
I'm hoping people don't completely let their guard down and think it's gone away, as it may never leave us.
Stay safe.
