MLB Trivia Time (Who am I?)
Almost twenty years ago I was traded mid season to this team where I pitched 5 1/2 seasons.
I made every start in those five and a half seasons and won an eye popping two thirds of my 162 starts.

These are my 5 1/2 year stats for this team.
    Pretty impressive huh?

Who am I, who traded me, and what team traded for me?

Jason Schmidt from the Pirates to the Giants.

I cheated just a little though.

Those Giants teams that started winning AFTER Bonds left were legit TEAMS.

Very balanced. Proof that 70s and 80s baseball far superior to modern game.

They were throwback teams, like KC that one year.

Besides the 78-37 record was is beyond eye popping, the most impressive thing is Schmidt made 162 starts in 5 1/2 seasons as a Giant.

Think about it, do the math. If you pitch every fifth day in a 162 game season and he maximum number of starts you can make is 32 (5 goes into 162 32.4 times. if you pitch opening day and then pitch every fifth day you can make 33 starts, unless you’re a knuckle baller those freaks can start 40 times)

But 18 years ago as it is now staffs go with a five man rotation so starters a lot of times go on six days.

But I digress, Schmidt made 162 starts in 5 1/2 seasons which is pretty much 30 starts per for season, every season. Now look at the solid ERA numbers and WHIP numbers.
He was pitching in that NL West against stacked LA bats and had to face the Rox in Coors against all those sticks, not to mention the Diamondbacks were World Champs the year before Schmidt came over.

He pitched on the West Coast a lot so I missed a lot of his starts but insiders said his shit was filthy but he was a little soft in the head.
Well that’s what I’ve been told and read anyway, I never picked up on that when I did see him pitch.

                                          Rick Wilkins

Arguably the most bizzare 1 year wonder evervat such an important spot.

Cubs had to go w Hundly and Gurardi after Wilkins fizzled
