Both teams got smashed by Washington. Both teams also lost to San Diego State. The difference is Hawaii got blasted twice by Boise, where as BYU beat them. BYU also beat ranked USC as well. Hawaii has beaten nobody and played nobody. I'll take the team that has more talent and has been battle tested every time. With a bowl game in Hawaii though, you really just don't know. On paper, BYU should win this one, even with the injuries.

Biggest angle is the God angle, mormons want to win this one for the Big Fella.

Both played incredibly low scoring shitfest vs sdst. Hawaii happened to win, BYU lost.

BYU beat Boise who just smoked Hawaii fur second time. More common opponents than you typically see in a bowl game but they pretty balanced.

Both got whipped by Washington, BYU was 8 points closer than Hawaii.

Nothing to see with common opponents imo. Why is Hawaii low scoring win vs sdst more impressive than BYU beating a Boise team Hawaii couldn’t hang with??! BYU dealt with qb injuries throughout year, healthy now.

BYU for me. I know you can't judge much from other's teams performances, but Boise State was so awful, I can't believe they rolled through the Mountain West the way they did, although they were not much better than Air Force despite covering a big number.

BYU's coach was on the hot seat, but he seems safe for now. I think they are better than their record, so small play just for action.
