In the United States it's the biggest bar night of the year...I use to go out every year...it's a wonder I made it home I got so drunk...but now I'm a older and much wiser Richie and no drink no more...must stay home and crunch numbers

Makes for an annoying night

We got the guy who doesn't know how to start a tab, so we gotta run his one beer credit card transaction 6 times a night

We got the drunks falling over and spilling drinks everywhere, doing blow in the bathroom

Breaking things

and after 10 minutes of being back at home with their parents asking too many questions they head out to the local gin mill to get away from them (they have to suffer through turkey day with them and the bars are closed) and reconnect with the old high school crowd on this legendary night before thanksgiving drunk fest. the ones that don't go out drinking the night before make sure to go to the high school turkey day game to get out of helping to prepare the meal that they dread going back to the house to eat. gamblers of course don't have this problem as they are content to have a tv tray set up in the parlor so they can watch the lions game that they had to bet even though they didn't like either side just to give them something to do other than conversing with relatives.

it's close but it's a younger crowd tonite. new years eve is for old fogeys and middle aged couples mainly. new years eve was big about 50 years ago but now not so much.
