This is true. Adam Silver relying very much so on the excess hype because stacking a team to be dominant is not exactly going over real well anymore.

Silver may have fukked up the NBA, maybe for good. I think he let the big name players run the show, whereas before the big name players ran the show, put also made sure there was a show to run. They saw the value in it. Then again, there were less "big names" than there are now.

Now it's a money grab, with the entertainment value sinking with the markets that don't have enough entertainers.

For example, if Zion goes to New Orleans, he just might want to get out as quick as he can unless he can negotiate success. As the Saints lead the way, and win next year's Super Bowl, the NBA team just might be able to milk it for future wins.

There is no marketing in most NBA areas, at least none worth a damn for an All Star, just ask Anthony Davis.

It's a tough problem, always has been, but Adam Silver not doing much to curb it, in any sense.
