But if opposing teams can smother Zion, Duke has the worst 3-point shooting of any team that made the 68-team NCAA field I think, or at least one of the worst.

Many times in ncaa tournament history, the champion has a game where they struggle mightily, but they win, and it propels them to the title.

I still believe they can win it. Don't forget they were one of the biggest odds on favorites to win pre tourney that we've had in many years

And guess what? They're still favored to win!!! But not by much

I never said they will NOT win it and I am well aware eventual champions have had scares before. I just said I did not pick Duke pre-tournament, opting to go with what seemed to be the consensus "worst" 1-seed even though my model still had Gonzaga #1 even after Saint Mary's loss. In fact I have Duke #3, with Va at #2.

LT - Mark few took a good gonzaga program under dan Monson 20 yrs ago and took them to a new level. They are so good now that when they get a 1 seed we don't question it.

But look at history. A blue blood program always seems to win. Butler came oh so close in 2010. Gonzaga came oh so close in 2017. But in the final 4 and on championship Monday, the blue bloods always come through. I think it happens again. The anuses tighten up just enough in the smaller mid major programs, and they just can't turn the corner.

Duke is the top team in the power rankings and with that said they are only 1 point ahead of VA and 2 ahead of Gonzaga, so that equates to what a 52% chance to win against UVA and 54% to win against Gonzaga so. it definitely is tight but they obviously would be the wise choice to win it all.

They still have a decent chance, Zion is a beast. The rest of the team is just good. If Zion has a bad game or gets hurt they are probably in trouble.

you can certainly find that Prop somewhere but since Duke is almost 4 to 1 odds to win it, you will pay minus odds through the nose to get The Field vs Duke right now

Just as good a chance as any the other teams. I took them to win it and don’t feel any different. Imo it a mistake to let how a team looked the 1st weekend change your mind, survive and advance the name of the game. Now you get a new venue/atmosphere, 4-5 days to work on things and refocus.

I have started to lean more to unc but think that will be the championship game.

i am not a duke fan at all. but i have seen it too many times over the past 34 years of following the tourney - a top team, a favorite to win it all type of team, struggles to win a game against someone they should beat, they get "lucky", then they win it all.

i cannot recall all of them but two that jump out in my mind:

1992 duke over kentucky in the elite 8, though UK was a great team. laettner hits the turnaround jumper at the buzzer. DUKE wins it all

1995 ucla over mizzu in the early rounds. tyus edney goes coast to coast and banks it in at the buzzer. UCLA wins it all

Don’t get me wrong they could definately lose, they still have that glaring weakness of not having any shooters around Zion. Totally get if someone doesn’t like them to win it, Just don’t think anyone should change their minds based off last weekends games cause we usually see completely different teams the next 2 rounds than we did the 1st.
