    NHL team total grading question

Does OT count for team totals? I always thought they did.

I had TB team total over 3.5 and it was graded as a loss. They had 3 and won in shootout making final score 4-3.

What book? Any book I use includes OT for team totals

Generally yes, always includes OT for pregame bets in NHL. Outside of NHL, hockey bets generally are regulation only. Thus, in rare cases, if you bet it live, it might only be regulation. I would contact live support, mistakes happen. Had a misgrade the other day in a soccer bet by a pinnacle agent, they corrected the error quickly.

It's been a long time since I bet an NHL team total but I distinctly remember that 5dimes counts overtime but bookmaker.eu does not

Ouch, you're right. Never seen that before. Bookmaker rule:
    NHL team totals

"Team total in NHL are based on regulation time and overtime, shootout penalties do not count."

Checked on other A+ book rules for you too...
Betonline - says OT and SO counts for all total goals
    5dimes - counts OT/SO as additional goal
Heritage - counts OT/SO as additional goal

If you unfortunately bet with bookmaker then its a loss. Otherwise, should be a win.

I would say yes under old OT rules but the 3 v 3 method now leads to much fewer shootouts. With 15 cent juice each side, the advantage might not be there. However the public does bet mainly overs so

So I logged into my bookmaker account today and I check the team total market and it says:

    (AWAY) TEAM TOTAL (OVERTIME INCLUDED)

But this is actually different from few years ago. Back then I remember with certainty it said:

(AWAY) TEAM TOTAL (REGULATION TIME ONLY)

So even if team scored a goal in overtime period, it wouldn't have counted whereas today it would, just the shootout goal wouldn't count.

I guess they changed it when NHL modified their OT rules.

I'm pretty sure DK is 60-minute team totals.

I hate the way that is written. Many people view shootouts to be part of overtime. Feel like that “shootouts don’t count” rule is just an extra way to skim more off the public in a deceptive manner. If they were truly transparent, they would say OT included, SO not included” or something along those lines.

Except in shootouts for team totals according to bookmaker, the only A+ book to use this rule...

So I checked today’s lines and team totals state “overtime included”

shootouts are part of overtime the way I see it

other lines I see posted for props say “regulation only”

they should definitley make these lines more clearer

yeah that is ridiculous. Should be generally understood the Shootout is part of Overtime and the winning Team gets just ONE GOAL regardless of how the Shootout plays out.

Seems they (BM) have confused the interpretation of what happens in the Shootout. For example, say regulation ends score tied 2-2, but then Overtime ends and the Shootout begins, and in this example the teams keep scoring during the shooutout rounds, and Team-A wins with 6 goals in the Shootout, vs. Team-B with 5 Shootout goals..... this still just gives ONE GOAL ON THE GAME TOTAL to Team-A

....same concept as the Players don't get credited on their personal stats for Shootout goals (ok maybe separate category just to record who scored in the Shootout).....but the winning Team gets ONE GOAL.

    see what I'm saying?

Yes, I completely agree with you. Based on the way they word it in their rules.

I just contacted Bookmaker to voice my displeasure with their house rule on this.

I explained that I’m not trying to get my wager changed to a win but I wanted to explain to them that’s it’s a horrible rule. I told them every other sportsbook, including Vegas (I think), counts the point for a shoot out win. I told them that anyone that does not read every fine print would assume they won this bet and that they should consider changing it.

It all fell on deaf ears as they just responded with “we have our own unique house rules” and that “you should know our rules on NHL”

So, I’ll just take this as a lesson learned. I will never play an over team total with them but will definitely pound an under. I’ll still use them as I still think they are one of the best books out there!

    WOW

Bookmaker just credited my account with a win on this wager

Very nice of them! They take care of their losing customers

i guess being nice and respectful in my conversation with them paid off

Glad to see that. I had messaged Optional yesterday, a mod here to have a read on this and contact Bookmaker if he felt it was worded wrongly. He replied he agreed with my analysis and that he would message the SBR agent that works with bookmaker.

"Yeah I agree. (Overtime Included) in the bet description would lead me to think it included SOs too.
I don't deal with Bookmaker but will pass on the message to the person who does.
    Thanks for heads up "

Sounds like the agent came thru for you!
