How does Haralabos Voulgaris place bets?

I know Billy Walters used to have people who would place bets for him, but I’ve never heard of what Voulgaris does.

Is there a single sportsbook in the world that would knowingly take Voulgaris’ bets? I doubt it.

Please. Who you think talked Dirk into going 0-10 and destroying all momentum the other night? Guy needed the high of winning more than the $

Well remember, Voulgaris made his fortune years ago by betting first half NBA lines when books basically posted them at one-half the full game lines, he was way ahead of the curve there and kudos to him. But I have no idea if he continued to win once the books wisened up and started posting accurate 1H lines, so it may not matter much how he got his bets down any more.

It all had to do with how most bookmakers set their halftime totals, the predicted number of points scored in each half of the game. Each half, of course, is its own discrete period of play, and the fourth quarters of close games can end in elongated foul-clogged stretches of free throws, timeouts, fast play and, hence, a burst of scoring. But incredibly, bookmakers at the time didn’t account for this fact; they simply arrived at a total for the full game and cut that figure roughly down the middle, assigning some 50 percent of the points to the first half and 50 percent to the second.
For years, Voulgaris exploited this edge, playing both sides of it repeatedly. It is possible to say that it alone made him millions, combined with some keen observations regarding the game-management tendencies of three head coaches: Eddie Jordan, Jerry Sloan and Byron Scott. “Those were three coaches I had nailed perfectly,” Voulgaris, now 37, says. “I knew exactly what they were going to do. I mean, it was a joke, it was so easy.”

I give him credit though for exploiting the edge to the tune of literally MILLIONS before it got plugged up. Surprised there were not more guys that took advantage. (Or maybe there were but they did not become public figures).

Voulgaris got buried in December 2004, and stopped betting for years afterwords. He started betting again in 2009 and was again successful. He says he hit about over 60% pre-2004, and has hit about 57% in the 2010s.

He regained success after developing the Ewing model. Although he wasn't as successful as before. https://medium.com/@ericcloverwadel/...e-87283f095133

the availability of real time line services and technology killed the gambler
the pro gambler had big edge years ago

Books eventually buried them with top shelf computer programming

For some reason people don't realize Voulgaris became successful again after developing the Ewing model.
