Former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, who was in attendance, tweeted that Smith's injury occurred 33 years to the day that he broke the same two bones in his right leg in a Monday night game on Nov. 18, 1985, vs. the New York Giants. Theismann, who was 35 at the time, never played again.

Starting QB Colt McCoy is at the podium. He says the biggest thing for Thursday is to make sure everyone is used to his voice when he calls plays and his cadence at the line of scrimmage.
McCoy says he went and saw Alex Smith yesterday. He says all things considered, Smith is in good spirits.
He also said Alex told him to go run with the opportunity. McCoy is very grateful he got to see Smith and his family. They’ve grown quite close.Comment -
