Yes, people are shoot, run over, or killed in bombings each day in every part of the globe. When I see you advocating for banning cars and anything that can be used in making a bomb then I will take you seriously. Like Jibby said earlier. If someone wants to kill people they will find a way whether they use a gun or anything else. It has been happening since the beginning of time only back then you didn't have liberals blaming the tool, they blamed the fuked up person.

It shouldn't be up to other vets. The government needs to provide help. Too many of our vets are killing themselves every day and no one gives a damn. It's ridiculous. We owe it to them to provide proper treatment now.

Dude - 20% of this country is fukkked up. Blame the person but we are all responsible to keep these tools out of the hands of so many fukked up people.

Your argument is stupid. Cars kill people. So we create laws to reduce the amount of people that die in cars. Can we eradicate all deaths from cars. Of course not but is our responsibility to do everything possible to prevent one more car death. We have laws that prevent people from gaining access to chemicals used in bomb manufacturing and dangerous chemicals. Are you saying we shouldn't have these laws? WTF? We must do everything to protect our citizens. You are just turning a blind eye like a lemming. You don't give a shit that people are dying every day over stupid shit that we can prevent. It has not been happening since the beginning of time. Are you nuts? You have never seen these mass shootings to this extent 30 years ago. Where are you getting so much bad information?

Blaming the tool is not a liberal view. Get your shit straight. You are trying to distort the issue by making it political. It's a bullshit argument. Using your argument, why don't we allow people to bring guns, knives, bombs on airplanes? By your argument it's the fukked up person not the tool, so why stop the tools being brought on planes? Because you are a fukking idiot if you don't see that having these tools create a significant threat to people. If you don't allow guns, knives, bombs on planes, you don't get people getting shot, stabbed and blown up on planes either. It's a simple equation. If there's no tool, there is no violence using said tool.

    Mac,

Treatment is available, but you cannot force an individual to go. From what I read, it appears there was one instance in the past where police were called to Long's house due to agitated behavior. He was evaluated by a specialist who did not feel Long needed to be hospitalized.

In this instance either the system (government) failed him, or there was not enough from what the specialist saw to hospitalize him.

I doubt this reported incident was the only one to occur, and that is where we vets need to look out for one another, as we cannot always rely on our gov to do so. Sometimes, hearing "you need help" comes across better when it's said by another vet who can relate to experiences.

Talk to any officer that has to view the crime scene of any of these mass shootings and you will get the same comments... "I've never seen anything like this. I've been in law enforcement for 30 years and this is a first".

This shit has not been going on since the beginning of time. Get your head out of your ass. These are not common events. We have just become numb to them because they are becoming common in many communities. The minute you concede defeat that we can't do something is the moment you become a loser, a quitter, someone that has given up on the American dream.

There are a whole lot more Americans committing random acts of terror in this country than there are foreigners committing orchestrated acts of terror.

Very true but I hear the treatment is inadequate and often difficult for people to get to. Why should they have to go get treatment? Can't we provide service to their homes?

I heard he was known to have issues and just last week or a few weeks ago, authorities paid him a visit. That's where we need laws to confiscate their guns or to move them to a treatment facility without their consent. This is like the 3rd or 4th case in the last few months where people reported the person and authorities investigated but couldn't do anything until the person blew up.

The VA can be hit or miss when it comes to treatment.

People haven't been killing people since the beginning ha? Well maybe check into a history book. The only thing that has changed is technology has made it easier to carry out a murder. I didn't say just leave everything the same and not try and do something about it but taking guns away from the 99% of people who actually use them properly isn't the answer. How about look at society as a whole. The pussification of America in recent years has enabled shit like this. Before if you had a problem with someone else you fought and it was over. Now a days they teach kids to run to a safe space. Social media has replaced talking to people face to face so it is easy for ones self to alienate from friends and family. Half these families aren't even aware their loved one is fuked up because no one sits down and talks anymore. Less family time these days and more divorces seems to be okay.
Also, instead of helping anyone with their problems we seem to have replaced that with just shoving some pills down the guys throat and he will be okay. Shit a kid that is "more" active now is all of a sudden told he has ADD and needs pills. It just makes these people worse especially when they stop taking the drugs. These companies and doctors make billions for prescribing pills for everything. If that pill doesn't work lets try 2 different pills. Then everyone wonders why people are addicted. I see this everyday at work. We got way more problems than guns.

Take the technology factor out, and then watch a few episodes of "Little House On The Prairie ". That will show you everything that is wrong with society nowadays right there.

We should probably just have a one mass shooting thread at this point. No need to start a new one each time.
Pretty sure everything said in here has already been said in another thread.

Since technology has made it easier to kill, can't technology also make it harder? One idea that I have is to insert a RFID chip into every gun. The manufacturers would make it hard to hack and disable it. This way law enforcement can easily tell how many guns are in an area. You wouldn't even need metal detectors for guns because you could easily see on a map, where all the guns are. Sure, legally you can own a gun but shouldn't we be able to know where the guns are? That could become a huge deterrent or at least help law enforcement quickly identify threats.

Think about your comments that 99% of the people use guns correctly. That is grossly incorrect. Most people do not know how to store or use a gun correctly. They just have not been in situations for them to show that they don't know. 1/5 of the country have some sort of mental issue, you said it yourself that many people are addicted to pills, people are mentally weak and need safe spaces, etc. You know, like I know that many people in the US are fukked up. Do you really want these people to have guns in their hands? I know a lot of people. Hell, most of them I wouldn't want them to have guns. Just because I feel I have a higher risk of being shot due to them having guns versus some thief coming into my home. I'm more at risk of one of my friends/family having a mental episode than some gang banger in Chicago???

I can never understand why people are so adamant of wanting to arm the entire society? If you have a gun (like I do) then great. But why would you ever want other people to have guns too? What advantage is that for you? Shouldn't you want LESS guns, if you already have one? We all know that there's a lot of fukked up people in this country. WHY IN GOD's NAME DO WE WANT THEM TO HAVE ANY ACCESS TO GUNS???

That's why Trump is REALLY pushing to help and take care of our Vets... War messes with your mind, shiiit isn't like a video game these kids play before enlisting.. It's not fun when real bullets are flying by your head, you are shooting and taking peoples lives and or you see your friend next to you get his head blown off..

You come back from war a different person.. PTSD is real and it's not always detectable and most with PTSD aren't gonna pick up guns and go shooting up a bar.. Hard to get inside a mans brain and see what he might be capable of..

I think this is a tragic event and no one is to blame.. He was diagnosed and wasn't seen as a threat but he snapped anyways.. Shiiit happens and people died..

Trump doesn’t care about vets. He tried to welch on donations to them. He doesn’t care about mentally ill people either....if he did.....him and his kids would be in therapy.

But hey....maybe gun nuts thoughts and prayers will work this time.

More common sense gun laws are needed

    Agree

However most who want common sense gun laws aren’t happy with just that

They want to go way further than just common sense laws which is a slippery slope

Honestly it is a little crazy, when I went to buy my AK I was in and out of the shop in 25min or less. Woulda have been sooner but paperwork and shooting the shit with the shop owners(vets/cops/etc)

Some posters on this thread say nothing is being done because we're getting used to the shootings, getting numb. I have an idea. Since the general public can't even imagine what a shooting aftermath looks like, why don't they publish all the gruesome photos? Once a lot of people see how horrific it really is, there will be more interest in stopping this.

We are getting numb to it because it's happening frequently and often.. That's sad.. I've been calling this for years now.. Nut bags see the news and they see what attention a mass shooting gets.. Martyr mentality then sets in... Wanna have a moment of fame.. It's like if no one is paying attention to me in my pathetic life then I will make them pay attention to me...

This won't end until the media stops covering it.. I remember when I was a kid there were no mass shootings, it wasn't trending back then.. Today it is...

There has been more mass shootings under Trump's 1st term presidency than Obama's entire term. Let that sink in... His idiocy has dragged this country down to the gutter. Thank God Dems won the House which can seal the deal on his impeachment. Anyone supporting this orange skin goofball is a clown. Can't wait until Biden becomes President in 2020 and Dems take both house and senate.

Blame everything on Trump.. Gets to be convenient after a while doesn't it?

A disturbed veteran with PTSD shoots up a bar and that has to be Trumps fault.. Vegas shooter that had no political ties what so ever to Trump I'm sure was Trumps fault too.. Fake news brain washing continues...

I remember rioting in the streets and cops being sniper shot under Obama's watch.. Don't see that happening now do we?
