Guess Bryant can not deal with being a back up. Intersting move for sure.

it's so lame how these kids transfer after not winning a starting job.

    Hurts has/had 3 options:

Stay a quarterback at a powerhouse and favorite to again be champions, albeit with sporadic playing time.
Transfer to another upper level team but as a running back.
Transfer to a nobody and play quarterback.

I’d do the same. I’d want to play. These guys don’t go to school for the academics, they go to play ball.

it shows weakness and running at the first sign of adversity.

Not sure you watch enough college football with that opinion. Hurts will start next season at a good program. Ducks or somewhere along those lines. He’s a good college qb. Won’t translate but he will have plenty of options

Good timing for Bryant. New rule this year: If you play 4 games or less, you can transfer and keep that year of eligibilty. If he takes even a single snap vs Syracuse, he's done after this season. This way he can transfer anywhere and play a full season next year. Without this new rule, he's definitely riding it out with Lawrence this fall...

im gonna try out for the Syracuse QB position next year. I just need to drop about 100 lbs and reduce my 8.9 speed down a little

If you're trying to get in the NFL, you need games under your belt to show what you're made of. Not going to get that sitting on the bench or holding a clipboard.

Smart move by the kid. Why blow your last year of eligibility riding the bench. This is his last year to audition for the NFL.

I watch plenty; Hurts is an above average athlete but a below (way below) average passer. Many around the program thought Tua should have started last year from day one. Alabama is the exception not the rule, they haven't relied on the qb position to win titles. Don't know of any other program that can say that. Imo.

I would transfer too. Cam Newton transferred and now he is making millions in the NFL. You have to show your talent. Sitting on the bench will not do it.

not sure why he announced it so quickly... that i would question...

but let's say it was end of season, why wouldn't he transfer? after all, his not being better than Lawrence is one person's judgement AND perhaps more importantly teams only play one QB... if it was any other position other than K/P he doesn't have to transfer.

mayfield, cam newton transferred (sort of in newton's case)......

why is there such hate for Hurts here? the kid from hawaii is better but Hurts was amazing at most times in the past himself.

Exactly what I mean. College football is a different animal. Have the contenders (or more) each year have below average passers. Hell, look at the schools most of the top qbs come from. He will be on a good program playing football next year. If you don't think there will be a good team with a worse qb than hurts I'd definitely wager that

He needs a lot of work to have any shot of playing qb in nfl. He will make some school very happy the next 2 years though. Seems like a good kid. Hasn’t caused a distraction thus far and getting degree in 3 years while playing qb is very impressive. Chip Kelly should be banging on his door the minute he decides to transfer.

Thanks for info. Didn’t know that and it explains Bryant’s decision a little bit.

Cam transferred because he wa going to be kicked out of FL. Think about that for a second. Of all the bad kids Meyer has run through his programs and Cam was going to be given the boot. Speaks volumes about what Cam was like back then.

You never know. Kurt Warner was bagging groceries after college career and two years after he won a Superbowl.
