It's disgusting and hilarious at the same time. Exactly a reason why I refuse to ever go to a game again (haven't been to an event in over 15 years). If I don't have "action" I wouldn't even watch any of it on tv or follow it whatsoever. WOT.....waste of time.....as my old boss said one time.

Just don't understand why these MLB players don't learn how to lay a bunt down 3rd base side.... when teams shift like that? You have the entire off-season to go and bunt in a batting cage. Just fukking unreal.

Homer Bailey has to be the pitching equivalent. 20 mil/year (or 22 maybe?) and the Reds went 1-19 in his games last year. His new team KC is 0-1 with him. Guess who I'm fading tonite My dumbass Reds gave him a $100 mil contract because of 2 no-hitters against teams that didnt care.

He led all major league players in strikeouts-per-at-bat each year in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, and I'm sure he'll be #1 in 2019 as well.

i dont understand why he is still playing tho? cut him, pay the penalty, offer a buyout so he can go sit on a beach or something...

how can you still trot him up there that many times? Baseball has one of the most ridiculous tv deals and these teams are not hurting for money at all. Cut the guy

I don't understand why they don't change his stance around. He can't hit an inside pitch because his front foot is away from the plate.

i think the trip to the minors is a good idea.

i also think at some point orioles should just eat the contract or much of it....

this will be a good test case as to whether a player will hang around for x years (4 in this case) to take constant abuse and make $21MM per year. sort of like josh hamilton. a bit like albert pujols but he isn't horrible (but not far from it)

i read a scouting report in the preseason saying davis has been frustratingly stubborn about not making changes to his swing. a swing that obviously isn't working

That is nuts to not at least try something with the money he's making. You can see when he swings has no idea where the inside pitches are.

                                  He's going for history tonight.

Chris Davis is now riding an 0-for-44 streak. No, that's not some weird, random stat sample. That big fat zero represents the Orioles slugger's hits so far in the 2019 season, as in zero hits in 44 at-bats.
If you're wondering whether that's an MLB record, it's not. But it's extremely close. Eugenio Velez owns the record (by a position player) with an 0-for-46 streak, and surprisingly three people (Bill Bergen, Dave Campbell, Craig Counsell) share an 0-for-45 streak.

Josh Reddick has done a good job with this on the Astros this year. Has been hitting and bunting opposite field against the shift.

he obviously can't officially retire or he wouldn't get the rest of the money but he can do what players do every year in the NHL. They sign long term deals and then midway through invent an ailment or skin condition, thus claiming they can't play.

Bunch of guys on NHL rosters right now who haven't played in several years because they won't officially retire.

it's like NBA players who can't shoot a free throw

                                          laziness

Chris Davis could practice bunting and become good enough at it that he'd hit .400 or so until they stopped the extreme shift.

But he's lazy and maybe too "proud" to bunt.

I think you hit it on the head about being too proud. It's the new MLB, especially in the American League. I know they aren't that good, but I enjoy watching teams like the Royals that play it old school with speed on the base paths and the field. They don't have very good pitching, but I like how they try to score runs.

MLB Network should feature every Chris Davis plate appearance.

And the Orioles should set off fireworks if he does it.

Most significant thing about their 2019 season.

Orioles announcers talking about the lack of bunting on the team right now. Teams like the Orioles that aren't going to be any good, need to do extra things like that to keep opposing defenses honest. Billy Martin was a master of that, especially with his Oakland A's teams.
