All newer passports have RFID chips in them. Dog earred pages do not render a passport "mutilated." This is straight from a U.S. Passport replacement website: "Are dog-earred pages sufficient wear and tear to render the passport unusable? Not usually. What if the gold on the emblem has been rubbed off? Not a big deal."

Good luck on the expedited passport. I went through AmEx Travel last month for an expedited passport... $380 or so, and those fukkers took 2.5 weeks when they promised 1 week. Blamed it all on the US Passport office in DC. Had to cancel my business trip. Anything the Government is in charge of is inefficient and expensive and often gets fukked up.
