#3I think in regards to sportsbooks themselves...I'm assuming books that use -110 all the time are un-opinionated lines, and books like pinnacle that move them all the time are ones that are considered to have opinionated lines...Comment -

#4It could be moving the pointspread instead of just the vig, you need to know what half-points are worth. There's the much-discussed Pinny lean, I personally gamble on the "beted lean", they had Toronto Rapters +600 a few weeks ago to win NBA championship, that's a sharp book !Comment -

#5Opinionated lines means that the book is setting lines that's different than most books. Since they have the best line on a game bettors are all going to bet one side. The book does this as their opinion is that the other side is what they think will win or they have a big need for one side.
Ex: All other books have a line of 6. The opinionated book sets the line at 5.5 meaning that they are looking for -5.5 action.Last edited by raiders72001; 12-24-05, 03:23 AM.Comment -

#6raiders' description is what i would best describe as an opinionated line. that which deviates from the majority of the industry. essentially the book is willing to gamble in an effort to capture a payout far exceeding standard juice.Comment -

#8The best "opinionated" lines are those offered based on client action as books are more likely to let you bet into those lines long term. TopCat/Trojan was an example with their sometimes one point off of consensus lines on west coast basketball games. Don't see that as much anymore since EVERYONE seems to be playing with them since they went hard after postup.
"opinionated" is sometimes used more broadly to also include slow books or books that don't pay attention to their lines.Comment -
