    Depending on the levels of positions, the books likely make money when the dogs win.

    For example, with the popular "to win" betting mentality, look at what the book faces...

    Pinny shows Tennessee -270 and Indy +239. If they take in 270 to win 100 on the favorite and 100 to win 239 on the underdog then they've taken 370 in total.

    If the favorite wins, they pay the 370, if the underdog wins, they only pay out 339.

    It's one way to look at it and shows, with one of the most popular money strategies, how the book often perceives it.

    Adjusting this lines like this over time will help the books tune their profit.

    The books make money when underdogs win.
