I've always assumed that it was Oompa Loompas that hatch the first lines. After toiling away Monday through Friday in Wonka's chocolate factory, they break for the weekend to put their heads together, crunch numbers, and forward their final figures to the head honchos on the Vegas strip.

Back in the day... the wise-guys at the Star-Dust Hotel Sportsbook on the strip in Vegas hammered the lines out.
