The President of the U of M is butt buddies with the board of Regents. Their focus and concern of the football department is about one step below the debate team. Really hung up on a power trip and actually averse to athletes getting scholarship money - athletes who have feeble brains but are social butterflies. Whereas academically gifted people do not get anywhere close to the same scholarship money and receive little social reward for their academic skills.
The way they did not back up and threw the last coach under the bus was an abomination. That would not happened at any football power school.Comment -
I have more to say about the schmuck president of UM. Holds the student athlete to a higher standard. Oh, so, students would not get suspended? How about UM employees or professors? Might be a little Dept. of Labor issue with that? Who all has the burden of this higher standard? This president has anointed himself king of UM. Privilege to play for UM? That is a little arrogant - if you are good enough to play you are good enough to play. You earn that.
Schmuck got rid of a great wrestling coach for standing up for his players. Football coach stands up for right and wrong for his players - dumps him. He does not want a football coach that makes more than 600k or more than him. Duh, he thinks he is more important than an Urban Meyer-Nick Saban,Jim Harbaugh et al. Well BS - there are a lot of qualified people who could fulfill the job of President of UM. Very few who could recruit at the level necessary to build a top 10 team. And how can you recruit blue chips with the specter of this king president looming like a black cloud over the program?

Why did Fleck go to Minny in the first place? He should have waited for a high profile school to come along. He could have gotten Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, USC or Florida.Comment -
No pressure to win anything beyond 6 games.
Guys, Fleck hasn't beaten anyone, hasn't gone to a prestige bowl, has one actual rivalry win (versus a defeated Wisc team), and his first 2 wins this year versus D2 teams were by a combined 1 score.
The hype is premature
The schedule has been very accommodating so far, PSU will be the first test. If they drop PSU/ WISC and basically roll into a mid tier bowl game having beat 0 teams w a winning conference record and a few scrubs they will get their asses kicked by an Oregon or a Miami let's say then all the talk dies down and Fleck is just Glen Mason jr.
Thou guy is right, the support for UofM sports is woefully inadequate from the mens side. They care more about ladys volleyball and making the NCAA / BIG10 hockey thing work than they do about bball or football or baseball or wrestling.Comment -
