Cavs better off with Thomas and Crowder

Thomas is a fighter. Like the Cavs chances. Good trade for both teams

Former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant issued a challenge to Isaiah Thomas on Instagram Thursday following his trade to the Cleveland Cavaliers: "I challenge you to make the All-NBA First Team next season."

I think the Cavs got the better end of the trade as well.

Celtics got a better point guard out the deal that's all I know.. Kyre is better then the midget... Kyre isn't a complete defensive liability either.. Win for the Celtics I say...

Crowder will be missed though.. Celtics can still plug that void now...

A trade from the Boston Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers was not the most devastating news that Jae Crowder received on Tuesday.

    Not even close.

Crowder's mother, Helen Thompson, 51, died of cancer on Tuesday night.

A source close to Crowder confirmed his mother's death to cleveland.com.

Longtime NBA guard Jason Terry said he's confident Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas is healthy amid questions about the new Cavs star's hip following a trade from the Boston Celtics, and predicted his play during the 2017-18 season will yield a lucrative new contract.

On Friday, TMZ Sports passed along comments from Terry, a free agent who's close friends with the two-time All-Star selection who headed to Cleveland as part of the blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade.

"The Brink's truck will come out," he said about Thomas' next contract negotiation.

Thomas has used the same reference multiple times when talking about his next deal during his time with the Celtics.

LeBron James knew Isaiah Thomas was hurt when the Cavaliers traded for him, but when he learned the full extent of his injury he reportedly "cooled" on trading for the 2016-17 MVP candidate.

According to The Ringer, James and Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue were less than thrilled after learning Thomas may not be ready for the start of the season, and they were even less excited when hearing reports that he might not be ready until after the All-Star break.

That is why the Cavaliers dragged their feet for nine days waiting to finalize the deal with the Celtics for Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the Nets' 2018 first-round pick and a second-round pick in 2020. Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert worried about how the trade is going to be viewed both externally and internally.

There is more speculation that the Cavaliers fully knew the extent of the Thomas injury before having the diminuitive guard in for his physical and that is why they were able to get two players and two draft picks in addition to an All-Star guard. Had Thomas been healthy there is a possibility the trade could have been a one-for-one deal.

The best way for the Cavs to look at this = IT is in his contract year, so it will be unremarkable if he plays the best basketball of his life from February to June of 2018. If he does that, it will be a good trade.

lol trade seems crazy, it would make sense if james were 5 years younger maybe. Now they are saying they thomas's injury is more than just a tear and they don't know when he will be back.
