    Gong bitcoin
Opened an account at an exchange and with a wallet. Waiting for the penny deposits and pending transactions for verification then it will be time for my first bitcoin purchase to fund my account.

It's kind a process. But hopefully it's as good and as easy as people are saying.

Good luck this football season all.

Wallet is not with exchange, by the way.

Followed advice here; exchange to wallet to book. The. Book to wallet to exchange.

It's easy when you can verify that you are you. I did 100 transactions with Coinbase. One day I'm logged out. New phone number. They won't fckin verify me. I'm gonna smash my laptop. This is pissing me off. I know my login, my password, have my ID, and hey guys, it's me in the picture. The guy who did many transactions with you. Is this fckin Fort Knox? Can I just gamble in peace? I mean buy BTC in peace. I'm gonna stroke out trying to get money to a book for Football.

Anyway, best of luck. Hope you win big. Wish all SBRers well.

I have the same problem. No lie I have been trying for a year to log into my account. I got a new phone and that authy app b.s doesn't work. It says I need my old phone which I don't have anymore. Everytime coinbase responds to my emails which takes a month by the way they send me a generic email with instructions for authy app which doesn't fukin work. I have bitcoins that I can't even use. I fukin hate coinbase. Can't even access my own account because of a stupid phone. Those exchanges are the worst. I swear one of them wanted a DNA sample from me. Fuk all of them. The fees might be outrageous but I only use local bitcoins or paxful. At least they are instant.

The lesson here is DONT USE COINBASE. They literally take months to respond to inquiries. They take a week to put wired money into accounts. They also handled the bitcoin fork very shady. First they weren't going to issue anyone their bch, IE keep it for themselves, then they got threatened with a class action lawsuit. So they decided to back track and issue the bch...in January!
Lots of better exchanges out there. Kraken and Itbit just to name a couple. Itbit processes wires same day.
If SBR rated exchanges Coinbase would not be rated an "A"

Indeed. That is the way I had been doing it for the last 3 years. Emptied my online accounts and drove to Reno every week for football season. Spent my entire bank to help fund a house downpayment and now starting from scratch again. Gonna be a few years before I can start cash betting again. Hopefully by then the Supreme Court will have overturned the Bradley Act and cash strapped CA legalizes Sportsbetting by then. Would make it WAY easier.

Why are the people complaining they can't get their bitcoins keeping their bitcoins with coinbase? There are a crapload of other wallets. It is my understanding that you need another outside wallet anyways as Coinbase will block you if you appear to be sportsgambling. That is why even the video on SBR (thanks for that guys by the way) specifically says, Coinbase to blockchain to book.

Of course I am a noob to the whole bitcoin thing. But I gleaned that much.

I don't even have to die for those bitcoins to be gone. I've given up on it. So frustrating I can't even log into my own account just because I changed cellphones. You think they could let me verify log on by an email verification or something. Nope. These dam places have more security than banks. And all this b.s about Bitcoin being anonymous is completely false.

I was going Coinbase to blockchain, of course. Just can't get back into my Coinbase account if my life depended on it. Luckily, I have basically nothing in there so I just need to find a different place. I miss just going to the damn store and sending money to some lady with four names. The biggest challenge was writing small enough to fit it all, and making sure the employee put it in right.

Yeah I think I actually liked that way better. I used to hate it though when the clerk would put the second middle name with the last name. I would have to call them up or go back to the store to change it. Why couldn't they just use 2 names?

Interesting that there is anti-Coinbase sentiment on here.

Is some of it a matter of Coinbase being a "cool name" and maybe more recognition?

As a Crypto newbie, I just assumed Coinbase was the standard wallet to connect to Bank Acct.

Is some of it a matter of Coinbase being a "cool name" and maybe more recognition?

As a Crypto newbie, I just assumed Coinbase was the standard wallet to connect to Bank Acct.
Coinbase was the first Bitcoin exchange I believe. But they are very nosy with what you do with your bitcoins. And my main problem with them other than the fact I can't access my account ever again is that they refuse to improve their customer service. When it takes a month and a half on average to receive a reply back from an email something is wrong. When they refuse to even have a phone number to call something is wrong. When they first came out they actually had a live chat option. That is now gone. How can a company as big as them be that cheap that they won't hire any new employee's? Fuk them I hope they go out of business.

If you're not interested in trading, then keep your money in your own wallet, one only YOU control. That way there's no limits and nobody to interfere with you sending your money wherever you want to. I recommend Electrum, it's super easy to download and start using, but any of the options on this page put you in charge of your own BTC: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

PS: You might want to avoid the wallets from the two main combatants in the recently concluded civil war: Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Unlimited. They both download the entire blockchain, so they eat up a ton of space.

Coinbase and GDAX both suck, and should be avoided, but not just owing to poor customer service. Both are being sued -- right now -- by the IRS for YOUR trading records: https://www.forbes.com/forbes/welcom...ww.google.com/

This month the IRS offered a 'concession' that it's only interested in accounts that transacted greater than $20,000, but even if that exempts you, you should still be afraid. After finding what I'm positive will be massive tax fraud among the larger accounts, there's nothing to stop the IRS from saying, "that was great; now, give us the rest."

Unless you're part of the miniscule percentage of people who are actually paying taxes on their crypto profits, close your CB/GDAX accounts today. A far better option is any non US based exchange, like Bitfinex.

Coinbase is fine as an initial place to purchase BTC because there's very few exchanges left that let you fund your account with dollars without totally ripping you off on exchange fees (Bitstamp.net is another, IMHO, better option).

But once you've got your dollars at CB, buy your Bitcoin and move it (it's super easy to move Bitcoin around the internet; you can get from any site to any other site usually in a half hour or less).

If you're only interested in using BTC for sportsbooks, download and use this wallet (remember to write down your Seed somewhere very safe, because if your computer blows up, it's the only way to regenerate your wallet): https://electrum.org/#home

If you're interested in trading, the two biggest alt coin sites are Bittrex and Poloniex, but they're both US based. If alts don't interest you, I recommend Bitfinex, which is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands and therefore less susceptible to intimidation/cooperation with the IRS.

No, you're probably thinking of the IRS's voluntary limiting of its demand from every account at Coinbase to 'only' those that transacted $20k or more earlier this month, but the litigation itself is ongoing.

In my professional, legal opinion Coinbase is very likely to lose this case and when they do, I suspect MASSIVE tax evasion will be uncovered, maybe to the tune of 99% of all accounts (the IRS says there were only about 900 BTC owners who reported capital gains in 2016, meaning 99.9% of us didn't).

Given that number, I strongly suspect some AUSA somewhere will want to make his career by reconsidering the $20k exemption and going after everybody.

Who knows. Been in that situation a couple times. My own fault, really. Had to drive home, and back, then home, and back because I didn't make sure they put the damn name in right. Then had to call, and deal with all that.

That seems great compared to getting money in now. I'll have to try some of these other exchanges out. Just hate the damn process, but have to get money in for football somehow.

Just take my money exchanges. Fees, and all. I just need it to get to damn blockchain, which is great, so I can pay for Tony's lunch.

But once you've got your dollars at CB, buy your Bitcoin and move it (it's super easy to move Bitcoin around the internet; you can get from any site to any other site usually in a half hour or less).

If alts don't interest you, I recommend Bitfinex, which is incorporated in the British Virgin Islands and therefore less susceptible to intimidation/cooperation with the IRS.

Is that the seed? Also I lost the random words I wrote down. So what does that mean? I can't ever transfer that wallet to a different phone? Can I still have money deposited to that wallet and access it? Or should I just close the wallet and never use it again. This stuff gets confusing.
