My advice is learn Spanish when traveling thru Costa Rica, not much English spoken..

Go white water river rafting down the rain forests if you can, that's just awesome, may change your life.. Check the local hotels for river rafting trip schedules, book, pay and go... They have different levels don't go biiitch.. Level 3 or higher or you will miss out..

The beach cities are cool as well for surfing and seeing wild iguanas and wild parrots.. Tree monkeys and sloths is what you will see in some areas..

Yes the offices are located there and I visited them. Costa Rica is actually too expensive to live now as most of the gringos are moving to Colombia or Nicaragua

Haven't been in 10 years but going back this year. Guanacaste. We stayed in Tamarindo/Langosta last time and Papagayo this time. San Jose is a dump.

Don't need to learn Spanish, been there twice and got by with ease. Most people I ineteracted with understood And spoke English. You don't even need to convert your dollars, everyone accepts dollars there.
Check out Manuel Antonio, arenal, Monteverde, playa hermosa, papayago peninsula like poster above mentioned and guanacaste too. Many other national parks up there to check out. Just rent a car and explore. Friendly people, can't go wrong with whatever u choose. Skip San Jose, waste of time.

Well I haven't been in 15 years.. Maybe things have changed.. I traveled all thru Costa Rica and it was mostly only Spanish speaking, especially in the smaller cities and coastal areas..

San Jose is a pass for sure.. Gross..

My wording came off wrong funny...I meant that they dont want any visitors/posters there. Brenner got his pee pee slapped for bringing me in.

im not saying anything is wrong with it as SBR is a business and they can say who comes and goes...no fault on their part.

i just don't want philly to waste his fukking time traveling to the offices

If you want pristine beaches.. go to Manuel Antonio

If you want to stay somewhere modern/western stay in Escazu (near San Jose)

Also, talk to your bank and alert them of your travel so you can use the ATMs without issue, dont exchange money at the airport, they will absolutely rip you off on the rate

Make sure to eat some chicharrones

Tobacon water falls and pools were amazing.

    Loved the coffee there also.

    Enjoy!

So looks like we decided on Manzanillo on The Caribbean side. Apparently not the rainy season there in Oct. flying into San Jose on 10/26 taking the white water rafting tour down to there on the 27th. Anyone been on this part of the country. Thoughts?
