Not much wrong with that, its UCF, theyve never had any relavancy. Did you guys know the NIT used to be bigger than the NCAA tourney, seems weird, I wasnt around during those times.

I wonder considering the seeding if this is UCF's last home game, maybe that has something to do with it. Once again the Big Ten sucks this year. Illinois is garbage, how did they even compete in the league.

Give them a break, this is huge for this school. They haven't ever been good in basketball and obviously the school, players, and fans are excited. First sell out comes in an NIT game, fans are treating it like they are going to the real final 4. Plus, no one can say act like you have been there before because they haven't so they get a pass on this one.

I see where you are coming from unde...but it's a damn quarterfinal...I had more people watching my intramural games at FSU

My initial thought was wtf are they storming the court for but you could see this game meant a lot to everyone there. I mean its an NIT game and the place is sold out. Most other games in the NIT were about a quarter full that I watched. I think most of those students thought, this is UCF, we may never get another reason to storm the court so they took it

I thought it was odd too at first. It's all relative when i remembered how it felt for my team:

Prior to the 1986–87 season UConn hired Northeastern head coach Jim Calhoun to take over the program. Calhoun's first team finished the season with a record of 9–19. In 1988, the team showed significant improvement and gained a berth in the National Invitation Tournament. UConn went on a run in the tournament and defeated Ohio State 72–67 at Madison Square Garden to win the NIT, the school's first national basketball title.
The 1990 "Dream Season" would bring UConn basketball back to the national stage. Led by Chris Smith, Nadav Henefeld, Scott Burrell, Tate George, and John Gwynn, UConn went from unranked in the preseason to winning the Big East Regular Season and Tournament Championships, both for the first time. 1990 also marked the opening of Gampel Pavilion, the program's new on-campus home. In the NCAA Tournament the Huskies garnered a #1 seed in the East Region, but trailed Clemson 70–69 with 1 second remaining in the Sweet 16. Burrell's full-court pass found Tate George on the far baseline. George spun, fired, and hit a buzzer-beater that is known in Connecticut simply as "The Shot". They would be eliminated on a buzzer-beater 2 days later by Duke, losing in overtime 79–78 in the regional final.
Winning that NIT championship was huge for a team that had never won anything. It got the ball rolling and more recruits to look at Uconn. Now it's a basketball power with 4 national championships. You gotta start somewhere...

half of the student base is Gator fans the other half is Miami & Florida State

Are you serious???? I know OSU is the largest and Texas is up there too. I didn't even realize ucf was the largest school in the state of Florida.

fun fact....Booya once dunked on Sam Cassell at a intramural league scrimmage when they played the FSU scout team.....I have the poster if anyones interested

Ucf is very big commuter school. So you have your normal "4-year" degree folks and then you have a lot of folks who take 3-6 credits a semester working on their education. 69% full time based on this (https://www.forbes.com/colleges/univ...ntral-florida/) vs u of Florida where over 91% are full time. So that helps explain why so large.
