There is only ONE U.S. team in Davis Cup, only ONE U.S. team in Ryder Cup, only ONE U.S. team in Olympics (per sport), only ONE U.S. team in soccer World Cup, only ONE U.S. team in hockey World Cup, and the list goes on and on.

In fact , U.S. should have only ONE team in the this poker championship.

And for those with short memories, I can remind them that Team Canada last year, with its short list of players and low qualifying scores did win the final, and Team World finished second.

i think the point is u don't even have to try to make the other teams. Just show up and u get a spot type of thing. Unlike US players if u don't do well and play daily u have no chance. If ur a non US player u make the team just by showing up. Participation 1 time a week and ur in

no philly, I'm not better than you. these standings only reflect the qualifying process of the first 11 days out of a total of 78 days, where the teams will be formed to play in the finals.

a better evaluation would be the yearly leaderboard, but even that is only 2 months old,
and I don't expect to hold on to my current #2 standing.
hopefully I can repeat last year's finish in the top 15.

I think the best way to keep this format is to change it just a bit. And still keep the Cup name.

I'm thinking North American continent and Team World. That'll give 36 slots to US and Canadian players. And 12 slots still for World.

12 out of 19 Canadian players make it. 63% chance.

24 out of 131 US players make it. 18% chance.

Those numbers arent even in the same city, let alone same Ballpark.


So if we combine them, it becomes 24% chance for everyone.


Not hating on Canadian players at all. No blame goes to them. It's this outdated format that takes all blame.

Slanina has good idea getting rid of Canada team & adding a North America Continent team comprised of any Canadians or Americans ranked 25-36 overall, this makes it more fair for the majority of Americans who play. The other 3 teams remaining the same. Thanks for looking into it Sammy.

Just because the majority of the players in SBR poker are US players, does not mean SBR should only focus on US players. If US players want a circle jerk of a contest with only US players then go ahead and ask SBR.

If I am not mistaken, because of the draconian and anti-freedom laws in the US against sportsbetting, the bulk of the $$ coming into SBR is from non-US posters. Therefore, I believe SBR is trying to cater and encourage a diverse cross section of posters for a fun and FREE contest.

All that said, personally, I would support changing of this tourney structure like what DS states but SBR has heard all of the bitching and useful suggestions and they continue with same structure.

BD I love ya pal and not trying to get into a pissing match when it come to all this....I'm the last guy who would trash SBR Poker as have been to TWO bashes on their dime and cashed 1600 in the tourney....the site is amazing and I take the poker for what it is.....90% of the guys here only play online and really don't have a strategy on how to play.....although I don't know the math when it comes to the $$ non US posters bring into SBR I can figure out the math that 75% of the poker players are US players and if they stopped playing, the poker room would be a ghost town.....we can both agree that the format, as it stands now, is not fair to US players....I'll continue to grind as my time allows it but with the warmer weather approaching, the 12-15 hour work days will as well......good luck to all

Hi USC, back at you. I too am not getting into a pissing match here.

I just would like people recognize that SBR is doing what it thinks is the best for the entire community and for their business.

There is no question that the US players make the largest percentage of players in the poker room. No questioning that.

Not to devolve the points, but I would also say incidentally that is (in my opinion) also why it is generally harder for the non-US players to actually cash in each of these turbo tournies. The sheer size of the US players vs non-US players would effectively skew the US player cashing amounts.

Given laws in the US, I am pretty sure I am accurate that the larger amount of real $$ that SBR gets in is from non-US posters.

Those are two different points and are not contradictory.
