Another Vegas Hotel Advice Thread - Urgent

Never been to Vegas so dont know much.

Got an offer from expedia for vegas hotels but need to book in next 35 mins if I want to take discount.

I was thinking of booking the Bellagio or Venetian previously, just because I ‘think’ they are right in the middle of the strip and best locations?

Price isnt a big issue but I'd prefer to spend less than more of course. I don’t care about magnificent room as much as I want great location. Booking is for Sat/Sun/Mon nights.

    Here’s my choices…. Prices are in Australian dollars. US$ is ¾ of that number. So $1000 = $750us, $500 = $375us

    Cosmopolitan $1075
    Bellagio $1020
    Ceasers $1010
    Palazzo $1000
    Encrore @ Wynn $980
    Venetian $970
    Aria $970
    Wynn LV $910
    Planet Hollywood $890
    Mirage $840
Jockey Resort Suites Center Strip $690
Paris LV $690 (discounted from $900)
    MGM Grand $650
    Luxor $630
    W $600 (discounted from $950)
    SLS $570
    NY NY $540
    Flamingo $540
Treasure Island $520 (discounted from $700)
    Monte Carlo $515 (usually $690)
    Hilton Grand @ Flamngo $500
    Harrahs $500
    Bally’s $480
    Polo Towers $480 (down from$820)
    Linq $450 (down from $600)
Hilton Grand Vacations on Strip $430
    Excalibur $360 (down from $470)
    Stratosphere $290 (down from $410)
Circus Circus $272 down from $410)

Pick the best value/location for me?

Leaning the W right now as stayed with them before in Sydney and are one the best I've experienced... but not certain how accessible everything is from it?

I don't find the value of staying at Bellagio or Venetian but to each his own. I like the Mirage or Mandalay or if I am going to go a little cheap I would do TI or Monte Carlo.

Do not do anything Flamingo or below on this list. The SLS is nice but off the beaten path. Luxor is a dump IMO. Never stayed at the Jockey Resort but it looks like a dump.

If this is the first time, then make sure you do it right (even if its extra money).

I like Aria rooms better than Bellagio, but the Bellagio has a better casino. So I guess it's a preference. Also can't go wrong with the Venetian.

Not sure what's on your agenda, best see the show Absinthe if you can (at Caesar's). Warning, it is very crude (so if you take offense things easily don't do it), but it is hilarious.

Opti stay anywhere but Sheldon Adelsons Venetian! #1 enemy to online poker in the world!

If money is no object the Cosmo or Encore would be my choice.

If if you're looking for value and location Ballys is right across the street from Belagio

    Thanks everyone.

Read it all and was searching maps etc to work out the plan. But ran out of time and just had to pick one fast.

Went for Paris. Liked location and looks good quality. Was a bit cheaper than advertised for some reason too. AU$650/US$485

And I can cancel for free anyway.

Las Vegas rooms aren't really as expensive as I was expecting. Tough to find a decent hotel here in Sydney for less than that really.

Stayed at many on your list. Easy choice based on your prices: Aria or Polo Towers. Both great locations. Both big rooms. Aria much nicer plus has a (decent) casino. Polo no casino but it's half a block walk to strip and right next to liquor store which is amazingly convenient.

IMO, best lower-price 'strip' options are polo towers or mgm signature suites. Best higher-price strip options are Aria/Vdara or Cosmo.

    Have fun!!! BOL

Also, I'd kind of like to have a go at shooting a machine gun whilst there.

Anyone know a good place to do that as a tourist?

Will be driving LA > SF > LV > LA so anywhere on that route would be great if not in LV.

I'd go with Wynn or Encore. W is just one of the SLS towers.
Paris is in a good location, although I'm not sure if the rooms are worn down/dated.

That's definitely a Vegas activity. You'll see ads for it in the airport. In CA, there are no fully automatic weapons and gun laws are pretty much the strictest in the US.

I usually stay at Flamingo since it's cheap and location is good, and who spends time in the room anyways. Staying at Aria for first time in 3 weeks though.

If MGM Grand is a West Wing room and you're travelling with other people, avoid. It's a shoe box and the bathroom doesn't even have a door. If it's one of their more conventional rooms, then that's the best value.

Overall, I would say Wynn. I can't believe Caesars is more. The only resort I would consider that cost more than Wynn is Palazzo.

Most hotels have something special about them. I see you went for Paris, so you will enjoy cocktail waitresses with sexy blue mini skirt getups. That was always my favorite thing about that place.

I am going 2/6-2/10 so we will just miss eachother

If you end up changing, change to Palazzo. Great hotel. And don't be suckered into staying at Venetian for the same price; they are far from the same experience.

Ballys best value on that list by far. Rooms are good enough and location is right in the middle of the action.

    Excalibur best value.
    Circus Circus is a dump
Stratosphere is nice on the inside-but furthest north and not nice on the outside.

Excalibur is closest to everything and its not too bad. Not great. But best value on your list.

I'd be surprised if resort fees are included Opti.

Did you consider Harbor Island or Budget Suites of America?

The amenities are fine & the ice machine has a very central location, to accomodate all guests.

Just be sure to bring sheets, towels & toiletries.

If these two spots are booked I couldn't recommend more highly, The Americana or America's Best Value Inn.
    Tell them Jay sent you.

    GL Opti.

I think you'll really like Paris.
