    Coinbase international transaction fees?
    WTF is this sHIit???

woke up this morning to see this fee taken from my bank account. I had a transaction over this past weekend. I've never been charged this before.

anyone else get nailed with this??

now paying hefty fees on both ends. Not worth it anymore.

i thought they were American based?

Please ask them and let us all know what the charge is about?

It was my bank BkofAma charging me saying it was an international transaction. Standard 3%. So if I do instant deposits with coinbase now with my debit card I get hit with fees on both ends.

All strange to me since I've made several instant purchases before and it was never international.

I'll send coinbase an email and see what's up and report back.

Looks like coinbase processed my transaction from Cheapside,London, England. This is why my bank is charging me international transaction fees.

            fukk coinbase!

              Yea, I miss Circle.

looks like I'll be doing P2P for now on. If I do BTC, it won't be instant no more. I'm not paying all these fees especially if I'm not getting a bonus from the book.

obviously , less 'small' transactions are not as cost effective (fees) as one large one -- also , the methods where one has to wait 3 days are cheaper

if one can... do one large transaction (3 day type) and hold , then send out as needed

then we have btc price moves to deal with. BTW -- been a good one lately

yea, I'll do the 3 day wait and save the fees. I don't want to do extra and leave in there cause I fear a correction coming soon with BTC.

wont be so bad now as I can usually determine on Monday if I need to get money in the book before the weekend. With the weekday games ending soon I won't be doing too much winning/losing during the week.

                    Anyone know when this started?

Seems weird a legal licensed US business would charge Americans cards through a UK merchant account...

I sent the following email to coinbase. I will update when they respond.

I bought bitcoin over the weekend using the instant option with my debit card. My bank charged me a 3% fee for the international transaction because it was processed in Cheapside, London, England. They also temporarily blocked my card because of this international transaction. Why is my transaction coming from the UK and not San Francisco like it always has before? I wouldn't have used this option if I knew it would be processed like this.

Thank you for contacting Coinbase Support.
I’m sorry for the issues with your credit\debit card. Coinbase currently uses a payment processor located in the UK for global card processing. As a result, the transaction may appear to originate from the UK but all processing fees should remain the same as quoted on your confirmation screen and email.
If your card is declining or if the verification charges haven’t appeared, this suggests that your card issuer has blocked the charges on their end. For any issues with blocked charges, please call your card issuer (the customer service number is on the back of your card) and request they permit and process purchases from ‘Coinbase.’
If you have been charged an international processing fee, it may help to contact your bank for their fee rates. If these fees are not refunded, please let us know and we would be happy to review.
If you have any trouble with your card after contacting your bank, we would be happy to help.
Thank you for your cooperation, and sorry again for the trouble.’

^ In other words, they don't give a fukk, if your bank is charging you extra for international transactions. All the fees associated with this transaction are between you and your bank.

Exactly! They focused their answer on my bank shutting my card off. My main concern is why are they using a U.K. Processor

My guess is that, because of their main business is based off of U.K. (Most likely because of the lower corp tax bracket and less regulations).

Why not use a CC with no FTF, and pay the card off with your debit?

That's something I could look into next football season if this situation still exists. Both of my current ************ have FTF.

Seems like coinbase has taken a giant step backwards. They've eliminated the bank account instant buy and now with these UK charges my card gets declined.

I bet it is a reaction to the john doe order the feds asked for.

I would get the hell out of dodge if a govt thought they could undermine my business like that too.

                                                      Use Bitfinex.

I just wired a mid 5 figure out...fee for intl wire; $65. My local bank will charge $25 to receive.

BkofAma threw me to the curb after a ton of BTC transactions. They are very anti btc.
