Wrong. What is the use of having a black players that can barely read on campus if they aren't playing football. The scholarship goes if the player gets hurt because they are useless. That is why schools have gone to "Guaranteed Scholarships" in the past few years. They guarantee that the player will get his degree with his football scholarship. If that had always been the case, there would be no such thing as Guaranteed Schilarships.

#142Good point. Why is it you do not hear these guys bitching about the coaches quitting on their team. Because that is expected. It's the players that are supposed to be the cattle. Not the white coaches.Comment -

#143Yep, bottom line is people are gonna do them. What they think is best for them. There is a long list of coaches who have been on record as saying they arnt going anywhere and get downright mad at the questions and then the very next day they are taking a new head coaching job. Lol those tricksters.Comment -

#144Shannon on tv now saying yes colleges can rescind scholarships, that its a one year deal. Might explain how Ive seen college basketball coaches pretty much come in and clean house sometimes, happens in college football too. You dont hear about those players not being on the team anymore or getting kicked off or whatever happens to them.Comment -

#145Reading this thread it's obvious some of you don't have a fuk'n clue how NCAA/NFL football works, much less economics.
1. Scholarships are 1 year deals, can be rescinded at any time. Saban signs Player A to full scholarship, then Player B (a better prospect) becomes available, bye bye Player A scholarship. Happens all the time. Don't hear any of you crying for them.
2. The majority of the top players are in school for football, not an "education". If this was baseball or hockey they'd be in the minors, but there is no such system for the NFL. And there never will be as long as the current system, i.e. FREE, is in place.
3. Anyone who thinks an NFL GM would think less of a potential 1st round pick sitting out a meaningless bowl game (which all are with the exception of the playoff games) is exceptionally clueless. I'd wager they'd prefer it. They know these kids inside out, they're learning nothing from the Poulan Weedeater Bowl.
Lastly, teammates don't give two shits about a handful of guys sitting out these meaningless games. Every one of them would do the same if in their shoes. Any who feel differently aren't good teammates. And any parent who'd let his kid risk his entire future for nothing is a lousy parent.
As Buffalo stated more than once, college football ain't the fairy tale some of you think. Welcome to the real world.Comment -

Funny a bunch of dudes on a forum think they know whats best for a superstar athlete to do with their body
I think everyone here needs to take a deep breath and remember you're all staring at a computer screen while Mccafrey and Fournette are out getting their bodies ready for the NFL

Why just bowl games? They're just as likely to get hurt in any game of the season as they are in the bowl game. But personally, once I was a sure thing for the NFL, I'd be done as well.
The NFL should just buy the NCAAF and call guys up when they're ready for them

#153If it's ok for a college football player to quit his team...
Is it ok for a college basketball player to skip March Madness? How about.... the Final Four?
Please... don't say you aren't comparing apples to apples. Yes I am. You can easily hurt yourself playing a basketball game.
If football is so fukking dangerous... why did you choose to play it your entire life? And mysteriously... it just got more dangerous the last game of your collegiate career?
You have zero right to quit. Zero.Comment -
