Al Horford.... worst contract in NBA history???

Maybe not worst but what an awful signing. Dude is a statue and a mediocre shooter at best. Gets praised for his defense but it's not like he's a rim protector. Looks like Boston wasted $113 million here.

Seriously you could get 15 and 6 from just about anybody. Why pay $113 mil for it?

Bro some guy over the summer told me he was as good now as Dirk was in his prime but his numbers didn't show it cause he played on the Hawks. I think that's literally the dumbest thing anyone's ever told me and that's saying something. Dirk might still be better than him today

It's the analytics nerds. They'll tell you how many good things he does on the floor. All you need to do is watch the game.

Horford is cooked. He's 10 years in and he was never a great player to begin with. Like lakerboy said. Boston just signed him for the sake of making a signing.

Al Horford, like all the other hawks players on that one team -- Jeff Teague, Paul Milsap, etc.... none of these guys are all star level players. They are all just good players, not great, not all stars.

Allen Crabb got like 80 mill for 4 years? Does the guy even average 10 ppg? Doubt it. Not even worth my time to look up that scrub's stats.

If you're expecting him to be an elite rebounder, scorer, or shot-blocker you'll be disappointed. He's a great team player though -the offense really runs smoothly with him in the game. You notice his absence more than anyone else on the team when the subs file in and the ball movement dissipates.

Wiz. Worst all-time ?? Not even top 100.

I am not saying he is good, great or some great signing. He is a solid NBA player.
BUT, the NBA has a salary threshold. Cap is skyrocketing.
Teams have to spend the minimum. Celtics have all those picks. They had to start by adding pieces to make it a more
    desirable destination.

Look up Brian "Big Country" Reeves, Jim McIlvaine, Jerome James, Eddie Curry....the list is endless.

Gonna have to agree with Mozgov being the worst signing ever. He is league average at his very best but gets 65 milly?

    • Team: New York Knicks
    • Years (Year Signed): 5 years (2005-06)
    • Total Contract Value: $30 million
    • How Bad? No one knows for sure why the Knicks gave Jerome James $30 million dollars for 5 years. He came into the deal averaging 4.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. Maybe they saw something in him that no one else did, talent.

The Knicks signed James after he had a great Western Conference Finals series vs the Spurs, with R.Allen/ R.Lewis/ L.Ridnour/ R.Evans. I remember

Wiz. They HAD to spend some money. Name the player they passed on who would have made the team better.

Problem is trying to find decent big men. Plus the game is changing from people like him to bigs who can run the floor.

Salary cap threshold. Wiz, forget about the $ for a second, because its all ridiculous.
Mike Conley made more on his current deal than the combined career earnings of Magic/Larry Joe Bird.

Unless you come up with a viable option my friend, this original post seems to me simply chirping over one lost bet.

Betting the C`s , without their best player, days after Pop called out his team for lack of effort, was suspect.

Horford does well defending just about any opposing big regardless if they’re athletic power forwards that also play on the perimeter, or if they are strong centers who score in the post. Horford isn’t a natural rim protector but he maximizes whatever length and athleticism he has by playing smart defense. While the offense dropped, the Hawks ranked second in the NBA in defense and were 1.8 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor. Horford doesn’t solve Boston’s rim protection issues but they’ve already proven to be a great defensive team without it and he makes them substantially better.
Horford allowed just 0.80 points per possession in the post against the most attempts in the NBA.
Horford also ranked 27th in Real Plus Minus in the entire NBA this past season.
    Grade for Celtics: A

Wiz, even by downgrading to a B/C, you are way off with this post.

Dom the point is it takes money away from their ability to bring in an actual star caliber player. I don't like spending money just for the sake of spending it. Horford is on the downside of his career. He doesn't suck but he's not a game changer.
