it's about making money. this "winning" the championship nonsense is overrated. players know only 3 or 4 teams have legitimate shot of "winning" rest only care about their contracts. how resting in december is going to help you in june is something i don't get. play them less minutes if you want to "rest" these overpaid clods. if they were paid by the game not one of them would take a night off.

If you want to rest the players, put them in for 10-12 minutes so the people paying money at least get to see them for a little while. This is why I will never travel to Memphis or Atlanta to see a game. It's not worth the travel to be potentially disappointed.

My guess is it was pops decision, which has led to lue trying to emulate pops strategy. Lebron has stated he is not a fan of these rest days and always wants to be available for his teamates but will do what the coach/organization wants. Lebron currently sits 13th in the history of the nba in minutes played so even though he is 31 years old his body is much older. Now resting irving and love would be a different debate.
