Agreed. KC needs a player like Soler and Cubs need to prepare for no Chapman.

Lopsided ass trade. Soler has a small to medium chance to be great. Wade Davis is sick.

As a Cards fan, now I'm sick.

Yes, Wade Davis is a much better player, but you have to look at years. Davis is a 1-year rental. Soler is locked up inexpensive for like 4-5 years.

It's a fair deal for both sides.

And as a Cards fan, you need to look beyond next season. Absent a slew injuries, virtually zero chance Cubs don't win division.

Eh, we're far more dangerous when we limp into the playoffs with the wild card anyway.

Great move by the Cubs, IMO. How they don't win again is beyond me.

Cubs want to win again while this great team is still together. Wade Davis is a one year rental who will save 40-50+. Soler could turn out to be good, time will tell. So, one team is a win now team and the other is starting to look at the future. KC has some key players that are free after 2017 season.

Yeah, Arrieta may just be one more season, and Lester won't be great forever. But the positional core is young and locked in for 5+ seasons, so they will play year-to-year with the pitching and do what they need to do while trying to develop some younger pitching as well.
