How come NBA lines are so sharp?

    Most lines are pretty sharp in all sports and when you see an off-line it's just because it's a bad line

              I don't think parity is a big factor... If you remember NBA lines in the 90's you remember far more at -7 to -15 but it was not any easier to pick winners... at least I don't think so.

              I do like the parity in the league now though. Makes it all more interesting. Teams 20 years ago could come out and play hard in Q1 and Q4 and count on a win if you had a good team. Gotta play all 4 quarters now.

                    I know next to nothing about this subject, but I'll bet these lines are made by sophisticated computer programs merged with very smart linemakers opinion. These are probably the guys who got an A in things like calculus and physics in H.S.

                    However, in the financial world, the Long Term Management crew, (freekin professors and PHDs) blew up.

                    These guys are too smart for me, but hopefully I can get em 55% of the time. So far, not happening.

                      facts, and well said. but NBA seems to be sharp every night with such a big sample size.. they are ontop of their game all season and super early in the season
