Jose Fernanadez was doing coke when he died.
Jose Fernandez had cocaine and alcohol in his blood last month when he was involved in a boat crash that killed his two friends, along with the famed pitcher.

Jose's BAC was .147, approaching twice the legal limit, according to the Miami-Dade Coroner's Office. Cocaine was detected in his system as well.

Fernandez's friends both had small amounts of alcohol in their system ... one also had cocaine.

It's still unclear who was driving the boat at the time of the crash.

Jose Fernandez had cocaine and alcohol in his blood during a boat crash that killed the pitcher.

coke is out of your system quickly so he might have been serious user.

He was off the next day. Mattingly moved him back for the Mets.

He was a kid. So he got hammed and did a bump.....not enough to make him pathetic or to wreck his legacy.

He was well liked by teammates. He was sick on the hill. He was a giving person.

To the person above that said coke leaves your system quickly, that is patently false. Alcohol does for sure.

He was a kid, being a kid....stupid and reckless. This could have been me, literally hundreds of times. Most of us get lucky. He didn't. If I had the money he had and access to cigarettte boats, Ferrari's and all of these other trappings of the high life....I am not sure I could have said the same thing.

He was definitely irresponsible and screwed the fukk up. His actions are inexcusable.

That said, many people drink and do drugs. Athletes and non athletes. That doesn't make them all scumbags. Hell, there's a long laundry list of guys coking up before a game too. Many pitchers. All sports had a problem with their athletes at one time. I don't get it but these guys want to skirt the edge. Thankfully they didn't kill anyone else.

I don't think anyone made him out to be a hero.

So much for MLB's drug testing policy eh? When you have even the biggest stars of the game doing cocaine, you know the policy is a joke.

I feel vindicated with my stance on this low IQ scumbag.

Maybe I should celebrate by doing a line, getting piss drunk and driving a boat dangerously fast near rocks at 3?

No, because you're were a nasty jerk. That said, the news of the cocaine use is disappointing. I think he was a good kid that did something stupid and now his kid and family won't get to see him again. Still sad...but that's the times that we live in. People don't always make the correct decisions. This one cost him big.
