James Packer has called it quits with fiancée Mariah Carey, according to a new report.
It has been claimed that the billionaire businessman, 48, dumped the 46-year-old pop superstar over her “excessive spending” as well as falling out over her glittering new reality TV show, Mariah’s World, which threatened to expose James’ notoriously quiet lifestyle.
A family friend allegedly confirmed to Australian publication Woman’s Day that, “it’s all over” between the high-profile pair.
“James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world,” they added, according to the report.
The glossy magazine also claimed that the casino tycoon allowed her to keep the $10m (£8m) diamond engagement ring he gave her in January after a whirlwind romance of less than a year.
The couple remained relatively quiet on their wedding plans, but Mariah did suggest that their impending nuptials would be a low-key event rather than an extravagant affair.
“I can’t really talk about them right now because everything is still being figured out,” she told People magazine, earlier this year. “I never said it was gonna be a big wedding.”
But in recent months the couple have allegedly been at loggerheads, with the singer recently cancelling her upcoming tour dates in Brazil, Argentina and Chile, sparking further split speculation.
