The magazine is a good read, but he's never been respected as a capper. He's just not good enough.

Ralphie, I usually agree with you but must say I find Phil Steele's magazine completely unreadable. A bald eagle would need reading glasses to decipher print that small. Besides, it's incoherent. I've been following Steele for years and I can't remember the last time he had a successful season. Just awful.

That's why I don't understand why anyone would buy picks or tail someone else. If you are going to win, win with your knowledge, feel, and preparation. If you are going to lose, lose with what you think and the reason you chose what side. Don't play somebody else's plays with YOUR money. If you are not good enough so be it.

I know a guy that lost 27 picks in a row. Came to work with a shiner . He borrows a grand from me and splits town. So not only the bookie but I lost also.

LOL, super small print, I agree.
I just like to nerd out on college football mags when I'm in the can. Steele's and Athlon are always in the rotation.

Touts are useless. When will people learn? Cap your own shit. You don't need a tout to help you lose.

This is my philosophy on touts.
I don't need outside help, I can lose all by myself just fine.

I find it even less possible to loan a guy a G that lost 27 in a row. Especially since it sounds like u never asked him for his picks to fade....

Not true, follow the game flow and numbers behind it and have your own power ratings. You'll never wonder again how so and so won or lost a game

I respect the work he puts in to his magazine. I like the write ups and information on incoming and outgoing players and some of the snapshot historical data. I like to take his sets of ratings and adjust them for myself during the season or to reference information when an injury occurs. If you are reading it like the CFB gospel almanac to riches then it's probably going to be useless to you. Sorry he is having a bad ats run for those betting his selections but if you have your own set of ratings and you certainly should by now in the season...then listening to his podcast or reading on espn his plays should just be information to consider.

Oh and he actually does call some pretty reasonable long shots or teams that are on the verge. The Huskies are kicking arse this year, gotta give some credit to him.

Huskies not a good example. Almost every preseason rag pegged them as pac 12 north champ due to high number of returning starters plus the knowledge that stanford and oregon the two usual top dogs
Had heavy personnel losses on both sides of the ball
