Sometimes they make them kick the XP when it doesn't mean shit. Now it means something and they don't

Go get them out of the locker room and let them run an uncontested two point play

You either do it all the time or none of the time.

They do in pros unless it's in overtime

If they have to kick it it's better if the kicker misses it so it can't be blocked or returned. Like aim 30 yards to the right of uprights to miss the line of scrimmage completely and the raised hands of blockers.

They NEVER kick the PAT in college if it has no impact on the winner. It is the NFL where they force you to kick PAT if you score on the last play of regulation time.

Would they have had to kick it with one second left????

Yes. What I said only applies if TD is scored on last play of the game, i.e., 0:00 on clock.

What difference would it make anyway when up 3?

No difference but if there was a rule to kick it regardless then it's less risky to kick it way away from uprights.

omg in that case you would just lineup to go for two and take a knee

You can't do this. That's why they make you kick it in the NFL. It's in the rules. You have to kick it. No team in the NFL has taken a knee because it's illegal.

In the NFL, they often take a knee when try means nothing.

Um.....
To clarify, when people say they force you to kick the PAT in NFL, it is more accurate to say they force you to try for the conversion, be it a kick or going for two.

You can take a knee on an extra point in the NFL.
Nobody ever needed to consider that, until they added the potential 2-point runback a few years ago. So if you're up 1, you take a knee.
Didn't the Pack take a knee in that Detroit hail mary game?

So basically NFL rule is dumb. Why would a team even try to kick it if they are up and time expired on touchdown? I thought they make you kick it else there is no incentive to kick for.
