Could be a good fit for Cardinals.

I hope that selfish prick never pitches in the majors again. What a baby....if he can't close he doesn't want to play. Who cares if your team is in first place.

Well closers make more money than relievers. I wouldn't blame him for wanting to close. He is looking for his future. Players are mercenaries. No team loyalty.

The guy is blowing to many saves to be a closer really, ideally you would want your closer to have a 90 percent strike rate in closing games.

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports that Jonathan Papelbon would welcome a return to the Red Sox.

The veteran right-hander was released by the Nationals on Saturday and is seeking a new place to call home for the remainder of the season. Given the depth of the injuries that the Red Sox have suffered at the back end of the bullpen, there could be a match here, but Papelbon still wouldn't be likely to work his way into a closer's role.

He's a team cancer, no contending team in their right mind would sign him. Plus he's lost his edge closing games, gets too wild. He's toast.

Its because Papelbon is a free agent and can sign with any team. The Nationals are responsible for the remainder of his $11 million salary this year.

Yea,I would not want him. He would be a distraction......almost a freak show....fans would come to the park, just to see when he goes nuts! Sort of like hockey fans watching a game waiting for a fight.
