Why? Did he ever preach hate, racism, war? I've never heard any woman say that he mistreated them (I could be wrong). He definitely raised awareness of sex and all the social stigma's surrounding it. Hefner was consequential in civil rights, peace activism, music innovation, fashion, style and culture. Playboy was pretty tasteful when he ran it. It didn't turn to porn until after he sold.
I've always said that it would be very easy to cure racism and war... Have a national sex lottery. Once a week, you would pull a name out of hat of someone, you would have to have sex with (your choice on hetero, gay, lesbian, what have you). You have to talk with them for an hour and physical intimacy another hour. Some weeks you might get a 9/10 other weeks you may get a 1/2. There would be a lot to learn in the process. Men would have no time for war because they would be getting ready for the next week.
