    Melvin Upton Going To Be A Blue Jay

    The Blue Jays have agreed to a deal to acquire outfielder Melvin Upton from the Padres, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Young righty Hansel Rodriguez constitutes the return to San Diego, along with cash considerations, Jon Heyman of Fan Rag tweets. While financial details aren’t yet known, a “very substantial sum” of Upton’s contract will remain on San Diego’s books, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca tweets.

    The swap is likely to be finalized today, says Rosenthal, who had reported last night that Toronto was in the lead to add Upton. Among the other teams said to have had real interest were the Orioles and Indians, each of whom will need to look elsewhere to bolster their outfield reserves.

    If you subtract his Atlanta seasons he’s been pretty much the same player. You gotta wonder what the Braves were telling him to do.

    They need Bautista and they need to call a truce with the Umpires. Umps are blatantly screwing them on balls and strikes.

    I'm not sure how he fits though. Does he replace someone? Or he's just an extra outfielder now. Guy was playing every day and batting cleanup or leadoff in SD. Bit of a demotion for him.

    I bet John Danks is crying all the way to the bank, at 15. 7 million per year to stay home when the CWS let him go earlier this year. LOL. Those guaranteed contracts , WOW. How can they complain. LOL. Besides, he was doing that for a last place team going nowhere, he might be excited to go to a possible contender. Just my thoughts. Stay cool neighbor.
