Titans trade #1 overall pick to Rams....

Got six picks in exchange. Good haul.

Titans didn't feel they needed it after getting Mariota.

Love this move for the Titans! This year's draft has no real #1, plus Mariota much better than Goff or Wentz anyway. Nice haul if picks are used wisely...

The Rams just mortgaged their future.
This will go down as the heist of the decade.

Tenn. fans should be popping champagne with the possibilities.

Here's how the trade officially went down on that day:
    Vikings received:
    Herschel Walker
    Dallas' 1990 3rd round pick
    San Diego's 1990 5th round pick
    Dallas' 1990 10th round pick
    Dallas' 1991 3rd round pick
    Cowboys received:
    Jesse Solomon
    David Howard
    Issiac Holt
    Darrin Nelson
    Alex Stewart

    Minnesota's 1990 1st round pick
    Minnesota's 1990 2nd round pick
    Minnesota's 1990 6th round pick
    Minnesota's 1991 1st round pick(conditional)
    Minnesota's 1991 2nd round pick(conditional)
    Minnesota's 1992 2nd round pick(conditional)
    Minnesota's 1992 3rd round pick(conditional)
    Minnesota's 1993 1st round pick(conditional)
Walker, a former Heisman Trophy winner at Georgia, had become a two-time All-Pro player in Dallas after spending time playing in the USFL. Walker was never as productive in Minnesota after the trade in large part due to the inability of the Vikings to utilize his all-around skills properly. The Vikings acquired him because they felt they were a running back away at the time from winning a Super Bowl. Walker lasted only three seasons in Minnesota.
Of the four draft picks Minnesota received, three of them were used in the 1990 NFL Draft. They drafted tight end Mike Jones out of Texas A&M in the 3rd Round. Dallas had obtained a 5th Round pick from the Chargers, and traded that pick to the Vikings which they used to draft wide reciever Reggie Thornton out of Bowling Green. The 10th Round pick had been used on wide receiver Pat Newman out of Utah State.
In 1991, the Vikings' 3rd Round pick from that trade was used to select wide receiver Jake Reed out of Grambling State. The Vikings part of the deal was done at this point.

The Cowboys received linebackers Jessie Solomon and David Howard, cornerback Issiac Holt, running back Darrin Nelson, and defensive end Alex Stewart. Nelson never reported to Dallas, and was later traded to San Diego as a result.

Dallas received three of their eight picks in the 1990 NFL Draft. They used their own 1st Round pick in the supplemental draft to select Miami(FL) quarterback Steve Walsh. The Cowboys traded the 21st overall pick they obtained from the Vikings along with their 3rd Round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers to move up to No. 17 overall to select Florida running back Emmitt Smith. The Steelers took tight end Eric Green out of Liberty at No. 21, and defensive tackle Craig Veasley with the 3rd Round selection. Dallas drafted Auburn wide receiver Alexander Wright in the 2nd Round. They traded their 6th Round pick obtained in the deal to the New Orleans Saints who used that to select linebacker James Williams out of Mississippi State.
The Cowboys traded the Vikings' No. 11 overall pick in 1991 NFL Draft, 2nd Round pick, Howard, defensive back Ron Francis, and linebacker Eugene Lockhart to the New England Patriots in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick in that year's draft. They used that pick to select Miami defensive tackle Russell Maryland. The Patriots selected USC tackle Pat Harlow with that No. 11 overall choice and Clemson defensive back Jerome Henderson with the 2nd Round pick they obtained in the trade.

In the 1992 NFL Draft, the Cowboys used the Vikings' 2nd Round choice to select Arizona State defensive back Darren Woodson. The Cowboys moved around quite a bit with trades to the Patriots who ended up with the Vikings 3rd Round pick. The Cowboys then traded the Vikings 1993 1st Round choice(No. 13 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles to obtain the No. 17 overall selection in 1992 which was used to select Texas A&M cornerback Kevin Smith. The 3rd choice by the Patriots was used to select Alabama fullback Kevin Turner. The Eagles traded that 1st Round pick to Houston, who selected tackle Brad Hopkins out of Illinois.
Walker ended up playing for the Eagles for three seasons after leaving Minnesota before he spent one year with the New York Giants. Ironically, Walker ended up back in Dallas for the remaining two years of his career before retiring after the 1997 season.
Out of the picks Minnesota obtained in the trade, only Jake Reed made any kind of impact for the Vikings out of the players they drafted.
The Cowboys' abundance of trades enabled them to select Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson. All four players made the Pro Bowl at least one time in their careers, and were part of the Super Bowl-winning years for the Cowboys in the first half of the 1990s.
Smith is currently the NFL's all-time leading rusher, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
Woodson was one of the best safeties in the game during his playing days, and is currently the all-time leading tackler in Cowboys history. Woodson's name will be called to the Hall of Fame one day, too.
All in all, the Cowboys acquired key players in this deal, along with subsequent trades, which turned their fortunes around. The Vikings remained a competitive team, but never got any closer to the Super Bowl as a result of this transaction. They've only made the NFC Championship game on two occasions as a franchise since that time. Lynn will always be remembered for the blunder of the trade that hurt his team from taking the next step to a Super Bowl.

In many ways, this move also has kept teams from having another fast track to winning because of how it changed two teams around. This trade was important to the Cowboys' success, but it also proved to be important to the thought process of teams later on. This deal is popularly referred to as the "Herschel Walker Trade" or simply as "The Trade".

The real question is what are the Rams going to do with it?

Wentz is rumored to be going to Cleveland, so there was no need to trade up if they wanted Goff.

I don't see S.D drafting a qb and Dallas is in love with Bosa and also not rumored to be looking at a QB unless Wentz is on the board. The Jags and Ravens aren't looking qb either, so why trade for number 1 to get a guy that is most likely going to be there until SF picks? This has to be a butt in the seats move.

That's a good trade. There are only a handful players each year that worth drafting high.

This has gotta be for Carson Wentz, they aren't going into the future with Nick Foles. Did they need first overall to do that though.

If it's for Wentz I think so, because from what I am hearing Cleveland is wanting him and expected him to be there since the Titans weren't going to use 1 for a QB. If it's for Goff this might be one of the worst trades I have seen, just bc Goff was going to be there up until at least pick 7.

Oh is that right,so the Browns weren't after Goff then.

These NFL Pundits are clueless, they all had Wentz and Goff going late in the first.

I like the trade for both teams. The Titans have their quarterback. They need players. They should hit on at least half those draft picks. The Rams have a playoff roster and nobody at QB. Wentz could end up being the real deal.

Watch Brandon Doughty turn out to be the best QB and anyone can get him. He will more than likely go in the 3rd round.

ESPN is reporting Goff now. Wentz makes more sense because Cleveland has been pretty adamant about wanting him, and the Rams could've traded with anyone after the Browns and up to the 49ers without surrendering as much.
