Wow Zizou, I wonder what the financials at Oddset looked like. You are right, they say they are helping the bettors but they are screwing them in the earhole, twice over.

Guys, if it wasn't for an endless supply of mug money there would be no easy pickings for the sharps.
These losers in betting shops and casinos around the world create a pool of money to be shared between sharp punters, bookmakers and governments (through taxes). Yes, the bookmakers probably get the best of it, but there are still opportunities to fade the mugs and get decent odds for doing so.
We can choose whether to join the mugs or not.
I've been one of them myself. Was in a rut of bad discipline, chasing the big win, and pouring it all back. Took me years to turn my betting around.
We can judge the mugs and put them down, but these guys are a necessity in the betting eco system.

If US players ever get legal access to a betting exchange they'll find themselves relying on mug money to create liquidity and odds.

Yes. Funny thing is: they had experts who gave their (very reasonable) opinions. But I BET that none of their papers was even read ONCE by the people who made the decision.
And bottom line is: it is either a) pure gambling and sheer luck --> that means by law in Germany winnings are 100% tax free. Or b) it is not pure gambling and luck and by hard work and dedication there are consistent winners --> winners should pay taxes, BUT AT THE SAME TIME that means losses are tax deductible.
And again, I would be very willing to pay taxes on winnings, but taxes on losses and pushing bets are laughable and go against the very interest (of course that is not the real interest here....) of the state when it says it just wants to protect the players!
But hey, what can you expect when 65 year old men/women who don't have the slighest idea how the business works are making decisions about it? Would be the same as me making decisions about trains (or whatever)....

Yes, I agree, of course we need those players! No question about that. Still makes you kind of angry when you think about these guys spending my tax money and being unemployed all their lifes....
(Plus, the average unemployed Tipico player doesn't help me, because I don't play there. I'd rather have them set up online accounts)

Say what you will about the gambling laws in the U.S.

Im just really glad we didn't take in hardly any of that refugee trash that are sitting in your books and milling around your town squares.

            Isn't gambling against their religion?
