#2On Thursday night's "Inside the NBA," NBA Hall of Famer and Kings minority owner Shaquille O'Neal described Kings center DeMarcus Cousins as a "hot head" and said he lacked leadership.
"In the previous years, he's been hot-headed, he hasn't shown great leadership qualities," O'Neal said. Furthermore, O'Neal said that the team may actually look to trade Cousins if the situation doesn't improve.
"I'm hearing talk that if things don't start to become correct, then they may be looking in another direction."
Now, coming from O'Neal under any circumstances, that's an eyebrow-raising notion. He's a connected, well-respected former player. But given his relationship with the Kings, it makes it even more interesting. However, there's no way to know whether Shaq has direct knowledge of the situation and whether that's really what's going on.
Also, it should be noted that the Kings' minority ownership group has always been a leaky bunch; that's fairly well known in NBA circles.

#3I like Cousins... he plays hard with passion. Yes of course he is a hot head, but I will take that over an over-priced 4 or 5 that is simply going through the motions... there are plenty of them.
That being said, I'm afraid that Mr Cousins is not so bright? He was one of coach Cal's one-and-done players, and I met him years ago and we talked for more than a few minutes. Nice guy but not so bright. As of now his wiki page shows he earns $17MM/yr and his estimated net worth is $7MM. WTF?
Can you say Allen Iverson?Comment -

#5So he's a real man because he spent 0.000000000000000000000000000000001% of his money on a PR stunt? Yeesh you're gullible.
I can believe he has a good side, but when you have minority owner Shaq, on TNT, calling you out for poor leadership it's bad. You can't always control wins & losses but you can be a good teammate/ good soldier. His treatment of George Karl is a black mark on him that wont wash out.Comment -

#7That actually makes sense. Figure after taxes he keeps $6.5mm/ yr, of which he splits with his agents, leaving him somewhere around $5mm/yr.
If he is wise he incorporates and pays salary to family, etc, to create paper losses....shows a low net worth, but wealth is there.
You know, you'd think these NBA guys would be more vocal on tax issues. Always playing the oppressed race card, yet what's more oppressive than the taxes in California and US Fed?Comment -

#9The Sacramento Kings are 4-8, have lost three games in a row and rank 29th in defensive efficiency. Worse than that: center DeMarcus Cousins and guard Ty Lawson both called out the team for lollygagging through shootaround after their 110-105 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
"I think shootarounds, we don't take it serious," guard Lawson said, via the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones. "We do the same thing, 5-on-0 and our pace is the same way in the game. If we want to change it, we've got to change it ourselves. We've got to take it seriously."
"When we're not in our sets, we're not focused, that falls back to shootarounds and practices," Cousins added. "We B.S. through the 5-on-0 and we come out and do the same thing. We've had after-timeout plays and we come out and don't run it the right way. It's on us."

#10I've watched Cousins play in the last few games. The kid has a passion to win. I think that the frustration of the losing franchise just throws gasoline on the fire with him. If he were on a franchise with more structure, he might still not be an ideal citizen, but I think his technical fouls would go down. A team like Boston would probably be perfect for him. Until then, people are going to just continue classifying him as a problem child.Comment -

#22I was really hoping the Celtics would trade all their draft picks for him. Imagine him playing for Brad, a players coach ??? He would thrive here, and be part of a winning tradition, not that loser mentality in Sacramento. Hell, is only what, 26-27 years old ??? With 5-6 years experience.Comment -

#24Cousins owns a Panamera, a range rover and very possibly a murcielago - pic makes it unclear as to whether it is actually his- and he "partners with Chevrolet" to buy them a new fuccking Malibu.
Guys probably got watches worth more than this car.
Should have at least bought them something fun.

#32The latest rumor comes from John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports. Gambadoro said the Phoenix Suns have talked with the Kings about a potential deal involving Cousins, and he said the Suns have offered small forward T.J. Warren, center Alex Len, and their first-round draft pick this year in exchange for the All-Star center.
Since the Suns are currently at the bottom of the Western Conference (second-worst in the National Basketball Association or NBA), the pick should be in the top 10. That's a huge offer. Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball are expected to enter this year's draft, and this may give the Kings a chance to land one of them. That is, if they accept the offer, of course.
Furthermore, Gambadoro said that it's possible the Suns might offer more assets to acquire Cousins. Can they entice the Kings to part with their franchise player if they offer more draft picks? He also revealed that the Suns would not include their starting guards, Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker, in the deal.
