I think that for most recreational bettors, 9 is a large number to lay on the road. I am by no means a sharp bettor, but my gut tells me the number goes down to 7.5 before it goes to 10. The problem is that 7.5 and 8 are teasable numbers so 9 might very well be the closing number after the books take a lot of home dog money at 7.5 and 8.

Who knows - I only pay attention to this stuff a few months out of the year.

If you laid 8.5 in Patriots/Belicheck's last 8 road games after the bye you would be 6-2 with Patriots outscoring by average of 16.6. Now throw in back up QB, top weapon out, Patriots out for revenge(with this game circled) and to prove a point and you have a high probability Pats cover.
