Chris Castellani on X: "This is insane. I used to think Yankee fans were nitpicking pointing out the mental mistakes. They undersold it. I’ve never seen this happen at any level. 4 year old t ballers aren’t making this mistake. https://t.co/fiNRUvuhgr" / X

Dominguez was probably thinking "What an idiot!"...

    However, Chisholm was the baserunner...

Something similar happened on July 25th when the Pirates were down 1-0 against the DBacks with the Pirates' Peguaro on 3rd. The DBacks batter hits a ball into shallow left field so what does Peguero do? He gets off the base in case the ball isn't caught. He could have easily made it home if the ball wasn't dropped and he was tagging 3rd base.

The DBacks fielder catches the ball and Peguero goes back to 3rd base instead of being on the base tagging up.

I saw an interview with Chisholm and that was his excuse. He thought Edwards was going to let the ball drop. The risk/reward is not worth it hovering too far off the base and getting doubled up in a situation like that.

            I saw the same interview.

The kid's a hot dog, a tad flashy, but plays hard. He knew he f**ked up.
I was taught if you're on base on a play similar to that, take two steps off first base, no more, and get back once the ball is caught.

He's a professional, he plays for pay, Chisholm (not Domingues lol) knows better, Boone read him the riot act, he had a brain fart, time to move on, just don't do that again.,

I was watching the Toronto - Rockies game last night.
(Reason being, I have Berrios as my #5 starter in a fantasy league)

OK, OK, I'll get to the point.
In the third inning, the Rockies were up 2-1 with two men on base, thanks to an error and a walk.
The Blue Jays were about to custom wrap this game for the Rox, and then, for reasons unknown, Arcia (runner on second base) wanders off the base, Berrios picks him off clean (Arcia pulls a 'Chisholm). Instead of a potential big inning, that was the end of the inning.

In the fourth inning, to make a long story short, the Rockies were in position again to blow the game wide open, but had yet another brain fart on the bases as the inning ended when the runner on third base was out at the plate on a routine run down play when the runner broke for home on a routine grounder to third base, which is inexplicable. You're taught as a little leaguer, don't break for home on a ball hit to the left side of the infield.

It's painfully obvious that most of these kids need refresher courses on fundamental baseball.
I've seen a dozen stupid base-running errors this month alone that would make a six-year-old tee-ball player laugh out loud.

nasher, fundamentals across all sports are not being taught as often as in the past in favor of analytics. Most sports are totally different now than when we we growing up and not in a good way(just this grumpy old man's opinion).

The Rockies are a disgrace; they're currently 30-83, on pace to finish the season 40-122.
                Disgraceful.

The Rockies' dugout is a collection of AA and AAA kids, with a couple of nice pieces.
The catcher, Hunter Goodman, has legit home-run power, and Jordan Beck is a nice 'contact' hitter, but that's it.
The pitching staff is atrocious, the coaching staff is just as bad, and the empty suits in the front office are clueless
Coors is a joke; the balls fly out of that park. The Rockies' pitching staff has given up 34 runs in the last three games alone.

Just blow the whole thing up, but it won't do any good; they'll just come back just as stinky.
No pitcher in their right mind wants to volunteer to pitch in Denver, unless they're looking for a big paycheck, and even still...

There's a reason why Colorado has never won a championship, and the only time they did go to the World Series, they got obliterated by the Red Sox in a four-game sweep. The Rockies' lineup was stacked too, with hitters like Matt Holliday, Todd Helton, Tulo...

The difference being, the Sox had Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling, Eric Gagne, and Papelbon who could get any professional batter out, the Rockies' pitching staff was like the Bad News Bears.

Proving yet again, pitching almost always wins, usually has, and usually will.

They've actually been a lot better recently it seems.

Those teams with Walker, Helton, Bichette, Gallarraga and Castillo were a nightmare for my Padres and they did make the WS one year but agree that the franchise and Coors Field are a joke.

Tovar is a really good player as well...

Oversight on my part, that kid is a good two-way player.
