Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte cries on field after fan's cruel comments
    Question.
Does a paid ticketed fan have the right to do this?

I don't know the details on this one. One thing about being a Pro Athlete: *You need to have some pretty thick-skin.

I've seen a few things at MLB games. The outfielders get heckled. And it's sometimes pretty inappropriate.

Remember when Jose Canseco confronted the fan @ Yankee Stadium?

We go to Fenway several times a year. About 12 years ago, the Orioles were in town to play the Red Sox. We had nice seats in short right field, right past first base.

Anyhoo, sitting a little down the line were a group of drunk, rowdy Townies.
Adam Jones was an all-star outfielder for the Orioles, a very classy fellow in real life.
The perjuratives these fans hurled at Jones were disgusting, everything from the 'n' word, and worse.

You need to draw the line somewhere.
I believe a fan has the right to scream at a player stuff like "You suck", but you can't do that.
The Bleacher Creatures at the old Yankee Stadium used to hurl batteries at opposing outfielders all the time.

Usually the other fans beat the crap out of these type of fans. But in American sports the other fans don't care. In any other country that fan would have been beaten by other fans defending the player.

Nash, best story I have. OAK @ Milwaukee. Tony Phillips playing Left Field in front of the bleacher creatures.

Lagers are flowing. Phillips is taking abuse every inning from one drunken fella. Price of admission, right?

As a utilityman, Phillips gets lifted for a pinch-hitter in top of the 8th. Phillips goes to the locker-room and changes into street-clothes. Makes his way to the left-field bleachers.

Bottom of the 8th, drunk-guy is looking around. "Where's Phillips?" Replacement is now in Left Field.

Drunk-guy sits down. Phillips picked him out and was now sitting next to him. "Got anything to say to me now?"

When a loud mouth fan talks about things that cross a line, it's time for the fan base to shut them down.

There is a line. Talking about his mother loudly in public is across that line.

Happened to me once at Bowie, saying my mother this and my mother that. I'm about 22 at the time. Dude is hollering this crap in the clubhouse at Bowie while I'm cutting through. I finally stopped and said, say another word about my mother and I'll punch you right in the mouth.

He says, well your mother....boom. I hit him in the face and his geek rear end went down in a hurry. Then I yell, " anybody else want to talk about my mother", WHOOPS, and I look up and this 6'5" black dude who is cut like a linebacker starts walking towards me .
Thank God security steps in front of me or I would have been toast. Lol. All 5' 10 and 175 of me .

Got fined 200 by the stewards but Bill Passmore, an ex jock who was new to the Stewards stand said, if I was still riding I would pay the fine for you. That guy is an ass. He had heckled Bill before as well.

Bottom line: You can have plenty to say but you don't talk about someone's family, especially a guys mom.

Guy should be thrown out and banned for a year. Screw him, I say. What a jerk.

As an 18-20 or so year old, we used to go to Monmouth Park.
Joe Rocco was a regular jock there, and you can't tell me otherwise that Rocco was crooked as the day is long.

The Railbirds hated him, and they let him know it.

I remember this one race, Rocco's horse was like a 6:5 favorite or something, was 10 lengths clear at the top of the stretch when he started to choke his horse, down the stretch he was strangling him, lost by 1/2 length at the end.

The Railbirds killed him figuratively; nothing was sacred, they were threatening to kill his wife and kids...

                  Horse fans can be brutal.

I've thought about this situation b4. What if I had the good fortune to become a pro-athlete?

First thing I'd do is to invest in some good ear-plugs. One blatant truth about situations like this:
*The ATHLETE has 1000x more to lose. The TOWNIE literally has nothing to lose.
...Turning a deaf-ear is the answer. No point in retaliating.

I played college ball, and I just ignored them and smiled.

The pro players are always under the microscope, some of them without lucrative contracts, are fighting for a roster spot as a utility guy; they're under a lot of pressure.

I can see how they could snap.

A 22-year-old fan has been banned indefinitely from all MLB ballparks after yelling something about Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte's late mother during Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox, according to a source.

I'm a glutton for punishment, and I'm a diehard KC Royals fan.
If you go to the 'K' for a home game and start up with the visiting team, Royals fans will tell you, "We don't do that here, respect the visitors, please."

In Eastern Europe the football hooligans control the players pretty much.
