Talk about moving at a glacier-like pace. Put me in the Johnny Bench camp. The rules are there for a reason.
You bet on a game, you pay the price. The fans have to believe that the game they're watching is not fixed. I don't see any reason to reverse the ruling after these guys have assumed room temperature.
EIGHT MEN OUT was a great movie. I do wonder about some of the specifics:
1) Supposedly, the series favorite flipped from WHITE SOX favorite (-140?) to REDS favorite (-140?) after all the money came in.
2) Was the pitcher threatened in the hotel? Implication being that his wife would be killed.
3) Did Cicotte really hold the ball for five seconds? Was it that obvious to the fans who were there?
