Discrepancies between opening & current lines
I never really paid close attention to the opening lines listed in SBR Odds but noticed some huge differences in CBB totals today.

For instance, LB St/UNLV opened at 133 and is now 149. Loyola Mt/BYU opened at 139 and is now 151.5. C Mich/Mich opened at 131 and is now 139.

Did these totals open this low or were these typos?

I've seen some ridiculous overnight NHL lines. That's when I make my best bets.

Haven't looked at your games but I doubt it was a typo. It probably got hammered and took a while to settle.

Come to think of it, 12 points is a lot.

Pinnacle posts openers with $250 limits and when they take bets early they tend to move the numbers fast. However, even when the totals open up pretty broadly to more books in the afternoon, they can still move a large number of points with lot of sharps seeing lot of value in a number where it keeps getting played in to the evening. Early in the season more movement. So not typo.

Darkghost: We already checked those opening lines, I know some differences are big, but that's what they sent us.

they are correct lines. just big moves is all. i guess people are gonna have to jump on them fast if they want that opening price.

Hit the under now then. If it jumped that much, they can be topped out. So a under play could be good. Just cap the games and see if there is any value left in them games.

In talking with some BMs I was very surpised to learn that even the 6 figure bettors will hit these limits. Value is value to them and the books appreciate the help with the line. Ideally the book and the player can come to an understanding about how low the limit can be with the player agreeing to bet it first.

I think Mike from BetTrojan was saying he will give any real (not market trader) gamer a decent limit because they are working with the book and not putting the book against a competitor. The guys who get to bet the openers are the true sharps. These days if a player knows +120 and -119 is an arb he is considered sharp.

In Pinnacle's case, they often put the line out so much earlier than everyone else they can offer $250 because players have no where else. When Oly and CRIS have a line you won't see less than a nickel.

I always laugh when the scalpers consider themselves sharps.

Yeah great info fellas. Thanks to Bill and the gang for the feedback. Just another reason I like to hang out here.

And BTW, all 3 games went over the closing totals.
