    Full Title:
NBA star Terry Rozier under investigation over claims he took part in illegal gambling scheme

NBA star Terry Rozier under investigation over claims he took part in illegal gambling scheme | Daily Mail Online

Federal prosecutors are looking into claims that veteran NBA guard Terry Rozier manipulated his performances as part of an illegal gambling scheme.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the inquiry just one part of a larger investigation into alleged match fixing in professional sports. The same probe has already resulted in a guilty plea and lifetime NBA ban for former Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter.

The 30-year-old Rozier has not been charged and it remains unclear if investigators have concluded that he helped gamblers in any way.

I can see it. He has been playing all over the place the last few years. I always like to hear why they did it. lol NBA said nothing to it. Smells like a cover up. NY says other wise. The sportsbooks even pulled him of the board in some of the games. In the end maybe he was just helping his friends out.

I seriously doubt it. Rozier will make $27 million this season. He’s not some fringe player. It would really take a significant amount of money for him to even consider this. I’m talking 9 figures. That type of money would easily turn heads. That alone is why I don’t believe it. Every time I see him play, he’s killing it out there. Now, there’s a lot of stupid people out there. I’m never shocked by anything but it doesn’t make sense to me because of his large contract and what it would take for him to consider doing it.

He makes enough money to take care of a bunch of friends, family and baby mamas and still be okay.

Never say never. I had this conversation with a buddy earlier… he makes a shit ton of money but some dudes just let human nature get them. Why do dudes with tons of money do dumb shit? Hell- why do people do dumb shit? Because they think they can or are just dumb. I don’t see an upside for Rozier to do this and he is usually balling but man people do dumb shit. Could be as simple as one of his boys wants to make a quick $100k. Could also just be bullshit. Who knows?!

Seeing that you had to state that you’re white, I would have to say you accused yourself of stereotyping. Rozier looks like a basketball player to me. Do you also think Birdman looks like an inmate too?

I definitely agree people do dumb shit. I kinda expect it. The NBA investigated the game and didn’t find any wrong doing. Sports bettors complained because he left the game in the 1stquarter with a foot injury. That’s not unusual.
I just don’t see a guy making 30 million worrying about a friend making 100k. That’s peanuts. That’s tip money. You give your friend 100k before you collude with him and possibly others. Especially in the prime of his career. It doesn’t make financial sense. And we’re talking about one game, not some pattern. I would believe a pattern as a guy gets barreled in. Rozier is making basically $350k a game. He ain’t helping a friend make 100k and risk his bag.

I hear all that but man… people do wild shit and sometimes what seems like a great idea becomes a nightmare. We don’t know what’s going on in the background. It doesn’t make sense at all. I could see it with a guy making jack shit from the G League.

I do agree though with your take on people complaining about their bet. We should expect more of that with all the sports betting and social media.

What’s wild is that because the NBA investigated Rozier, they then found out Jontay Porter was shaving in that same game. He got kicked out of the league. He’s Michael Porter Jars brother. He was making $400k a year. Fringe players like him can be gotten a lot easier but that was still very stupid by him.

Speaking of wild shit, I know a lot of ex players years ago that would play cards against each other for money. Guys were totally addicted to a game called Tonk. Gilbert Arenas and teammate Crittendon got into a gun fight over a card game. Arenas brought 4 guns to the locker room and gave Crittendon a note that said “Choose One”. LOL. I know other guys got into fist fights on the team plane. Most were not betting big money either. $5/10 hands but guys hate to lose.

Swallow your pride and cash the check. Butler is saving the owner money by being dumb. Now I think this is worse than point shaving. This is just so stupid on all levels by him. Who the hell would want to trade for Butler after this shit. His agent is asleep at the wheel.
